It smells Elton John since he came to the world!!! A style is born since then!!! The Golden trio; Elton, Nigel, Dee.

Could you isolate the song "Susie" from the same album? It's amazing piano...

Nigel Olsson- the ONLY Elton John drummer. Dee Murray-(RIP✝️✝️✝️) the ONLY Elton John bass guitarist.

I couldn’t disagree more, while he was part of some of Elton s greatest music, I haven’t heard any inspirational drumming from him since curtains. Don t forget Roger pope played on those earliest records, he was great as was Charlie Morgan

@@Libera_nos_a_malo it’s called politics…what do you think, daveys going to put him down? They are friends after all. You think Elton’s going to be a jerk and say bad things about Nigel? Of course not, he’s a gentleman as is Davey. Their job is to say things that unite, not divide. to put them down? I’ve seen Elton over 70 times since 1979. 82 ,84 with Nigel…sure the tours were successful but listen to how sloppy they sounded, tempos all over the place. Hey I had a good time when I was there at the time, but now there’s hindsite…we can relisten…it . Listen to anything before ray cooper joined the band…again in concert same thing, not too cohesive. Now let me say I’m not talking about Nigel’s drumming on record up to 1975. I agree he’s done some great stuff. But where has there been great definitive drumming again since then, like he did on curtains or Saturday night. doesn’t sound that good. Hey I acknowledge that he’s also a great singer and will say he adds to ejs recordings still, but not so much as a drummer. I’m not a barking seal who’s going to join a conga line just because so many think something…I guarantee if you heard Davey talk about the Charlie Morgan era, or Roger pope era he would be kind, he’s a very nice man , I totally think that, about Davey. So many talk about the “ej sound” he has lots of sounds, that’s why he’s so prolific. Many , not so much me think tumbleweed, or madman are his best albums… very little Nigel drumming on those. But to many that’s a classic ej sound. His second album as well “Elton John” another great one with no Nigel. I don’t put Elton in a box , I concur Nigel did some great work in the studio, but as a drummer , not so much since 1975. You’re welcome to tell me which song is so great since that album came out , whereby Charlie or Roger couldn’t have done an equally good job. Rock of the westies rocked, blue moves rocked… and many more since. Now, let me say , to his credit, Nigel has much improved since he came back, tempos are way better, but I also think ejs standards improved while he was gone. But here’s a simple test…listen to live to don’t let the sun, hear Nigel’s great fill after ej sings “to help them heal” and ad find me one live recording , from 74-today where that great fill is in there in a live setting. The closest you’ll find is if ray cooper is also playing the drums with Nigel. Now , listen to live in Australia, or any other performance, with Charlie, and that great fill is in there. Why is that part of the song not there in concert? It rocks. You can also listen to live aid, first performance with Charlie, you’ll hear it. That’s one of many examples I can cite. But most fans don’t know which songs he played on or didn’t anyway. I recently listened to a guy , who rated every Album, or a bunch of them, and said Nigel kicked butt on all quiet on the western front…this guy was a fan, but he didn’t know what he was taking about. Jump up, rocked…zero Nigel…could he have played as well on empty garden? Dear John?where have all the good times gone? Not if you’re listening to the 1982 tour. Every song on that album has great drums, and many would say empty garden is part of the ej sound…or Nikita, or the one (which I don’t believe he’s ever played with Nigel) anything off of made in England a great album. I agree, Nigel made some great records, he sings like a bird, love his vocals. I have his albums, not bad, love dancing shoes or say goodbye to Hollywood and more…but everyone wants to dismiss any album with no Nigel . Too low, one of my favorites, but nothing as good as curtains on there. I love most of ejs albums, Nigel or no Nigel…they all create different ej sounds…mostly good, but to stick ej In a box is a great disservice. Don’t let the sun is one of many examples I could give…if you can find me a nice performance that has that great fill , I’d love to hear it. Instead, he always just plays it safe on that one. Also , as a drummert please tell me where he plays anything that touches curtains…I don’t mean to be mean, but Elton and Davey aren’t going to disparage Nigel, it’s unprofessional. You left out the fact that ej also says , blue moves is one of if not his favorite album..(I’ve heard him say both, but I’d put it in the “one of “ category in ejs opinion…why, because ej Says lots of things, good and bad about his work) and blue moves….hmmm no Nigel. You think he regrets that? You think Nigel could have played one horse town? Like the one , or simple life, ejs performed it, but never with Nigel, I think that’s why. Sorry but ej started playing to stadiums after Nigel left wembley, dodger etc…ejs popularity did not diminish until the 1976 rolling stone interview, and yet blue moves a double album, costing nearly twice the amount of other records…entered the charts at number 3…pretty good. No ej and Davey won’t say bad things about Nigel, it’s in the past and they’ve all moved on, to their credit, they’ve all moved on . Would you like to work with the same person everyday your whole life? For a variety of reasons ej let Nigel go…I will also say he did it in a bad way , an uncool way….but it’s called business, the music business…btw I mentioned it again, that Roger pope played on the great songs like holiday inn and Tiny dancer…certainly another aspect of what you call the “ej sound” but you didn’t respond to it, so I brought it up again.

Btw I like your thing that say s truth is the new hate speech, I’ll bet we agree on a lot of other things
