It's about time all these session men were recognized, You can put a mediocre singer in front of a great band and they'd sound better but get a great singer in front of a mediocre band and it would still sound mediocre.

What a shame that he's so unknown. This guy is easily one of the best ever. He was only 16 when he recorded Blow By Blow. 16! And he was playing crazy sh*t that very few could play today. Even as a guitarist, I love hearing Richard play. Such a natural genius.

Wow! What a great interview, what a legend Steve Gadd, he's up there with Jim Keltner, Jeff Porcaro Rip, Caliouta, Jim Gordon Rip, that list just goes on from that generation. Absolute legend and master of the craft, and obviously a cracking guy to boot!

Great drummer, seen him at a drum clinic in Liverpool around 2000? Great player and really came across as a good guy.

I was really looking forward to this. I have been into Steve White's drumming ever since I got Cafe Bleu in 1985. I wasn't prepared for the interviewer; she consistently asks multiple questions in single sentences; on 2 occasions, she asked seven questions in a single sentence! Steve was pretty dull to listen to. He seems incapable of uttering a single sentence without the cliche "You know". A shame.

He was very young when he started. Anyone can start any talent or discipline at any age and be come a master. But when a child soon becomes a phenom. It's most likely the 10,000 hour.

Steve White is part of my culture, the one that contributed to my education as a guitarist, composer and musician in general. I fully share his vision of music, which belongs totally to me. A true musician who deserves all my respect and admiration. Besides, he is a lovely human being. I met him here in Italy on a couple of occasions with the Style Council in the 80s, we were both very young, and he was always very kind..

My ex met Clem Cattini a few times - she was a model and dancer from Great Yarmouth, and they were in the same production - and she said he was a very nice bloke. Funnily enough, she was also part-Italian. His ideal band would be very fine - Ray Fenwick and John Paul Jones sounds a great combination. Really enjoyed the interview. 🙂

Howard does exactly what he says, keeps perfect time with an eye on the singer, anticipating the changes, backs the lead rather than fighting for attention. Head and shoulders, the best drummer I ever played with and a really nice guy too. COD.
