The biggest sheet the WorkBee can cut is 4' x 4' sheets. For larger sheets, such as 8' x 4', you can use tiling. This involves cutting one half of the sheet, pushing the material through, and then cutting the second half. We have a KZbin video that explains the process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHzcmn6Qp7GDp6M Yes the machine can cut in 3D!

I’ve been trying to figure this out, and I need to know before I screw up my piece- with all of those clamps in place isn’t the dowelling system a bit redundant?
@ooznest

No, because you set the centre of your work piece as the Work Zero, and cut your dowels from there. The square clamps would rely on the piece of material being perfect on all sides

Interesting. I have a 1000 x 1000 screw-drive Workbee from mid 2019 and have no issues with it at all. I would be interested to know if there is anything in the new design that could or should be retro-fitted to the older machine (I sorted out an emergency stop before I ever ran it!). I guess the new thrust-race arrangements put the lead-screws under tension while the old arrangements with the bearings on the inside of the end-plates effectively mean the lead-screws push the carriage but I really can't say I have encountered any issue with that arrangement.

I realized after oozing PETG from the top have of the heatblock that the heatbreak and the nozzle were not sealed...seeing that other nozzles are shorter would it be possible to get a slightly shorter block to ensure the gap from the heatend and the coolerblock are maintained? I'm planning to buy a replacement heatblock and sand/grind it down just a bit form the heatbreak side to allow this seal to better work itself.

Finally I have found a channel that shows us a bit more about the process with CNC's. I wanted to build my own but this looks like a sweet piece of kit my bro. Who builds these CNC routers?? I was pricing the 1500x1500 machine and it was priced at 1,600 with shipping .. I live in Ireland bro. I'm worried about the shipping process tbh. Lotta braindead ppl chuck stuff around in the depots and I worry mine would be broken in transit. What software does this CNC use bro? I'm a newbie to CNC's mate so I really want one with a newbie friendly interface.. LMAO. I heard what u were saying about cutting metal and stuff with the belts version machines so I would defo look to go smaller to have the lead screw instead. The one in this video is really nice bro. What is the size of it again or does the have a specialised code for this one along with the rest.

Hi, we manufacture the CNC Kits. We ship to Ireland without any issues. It uses WorkBee Control here: learn.ooznest.co.uk/Guide/WorkBee+Control+Overview/22 You will need CAM Software, either Vectric or Carveco. All the machines we supply now are screw drive. The biggest we supply is 1500x1500mm and is screw drive. Thanks

Hi, are you using the Touch Probe to set the Work Zero? If so, you have to be careful using the fluted section, as if it contacts on the inside of the flute, it could offset your job. Sometimes best to use an old endmill upside down.
@IvanFlack

OK so I have the XYZ Touch Probe and I understand that when I use it that it "sets" the XYZ Axis relative to the piece of material that I am working on. But in my Vectric Software, there is a reference to Z-Gap above material...should this be set to ZERO then since the Work coordinates have all been set to Zero by the Probe???

Hi Ryan, I've just finished constructing my 1000x1000 work bee and I'm looking at surfacing the spoiler board using the Vectric software I also purchased. You also supplied an Amana Tool 1-1/8" surfacing bit. I've looked at the Vectric faqs and it recommends adding it to their tool database as an Endmill. However it's a little vague as to what Cutting parameters and feeds&speeds to use. could you give us some guidance? I'm after Pass depth, Stepover and percentage, Spindle speed (I think it's 18000), Chip load ( I think it 0.004 inches), feed rate and plunge rate. Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work
@ooznest
@ooznest 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, the dimensions you need to add into Vectric can be found on the table on this page here: ooznest.co.uk/product/amana-end-mill-surfacing-3-flute-1-1-8/ If your spoilerboard is MDF 1mm pass depth, 2500mm/min, 40% stepover, 18kRPM would work well. Plunge normally you would set to half your feedrate. Chipload is just calculated automatically from the other settings. Just make sure it is less than what is in this table: ooznest.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Carbide-Tipped-Spoilboard-3-4-Wing-Speed-Chart-v2.pdf Thanks!

I visited a workshop where they milled these decorative ceiling skirting. But these were something like 6 meters long. So I suggested to cut small holes on the back side at specific distances. It's a repetitive pattern, so now he can just shift it over and set it in place on a pin. Simple solution, once you think of it, but for him it was extremely helpful.

Ryan what's missing is setting the work zero corners correctly. So with double-sided as stated before you we get a combination of options. Material surface, work surface or same side. Now obviously the best option is the same face if cutting out a 3d object, it would counter any issues with thickness irregularities. What I've found though is no way to sense the workspace surface using the probe to get a bang on spoiler board z height for using the same side for depth reference. Added to this I'm worried about having the Work Zero at the board level for the bottom as the bit would crash into the piece. So what's the correct way to use the "same side" option? Or would you recommend avoiding this?
@ooznest
@ooznest 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, we probably like to avoid having the Work Zero at board level because of making a crash more likely if you press the wrong button. So I would avoid using that setting.
