Long shot but what are the clamps called your using to secure the piece? I have tried what I would call them in Google and I just get normal clamps that secure from the top and these look perfect for cnc. Currently halfway through building my ooznest with my brother

Thank you for watching! Question of the day - what projects that you've done could be improved with Two Sided Machining?
@peterawlings3266

Ryan what's missing is setting the work zero corners correctly. So with double-sided as stated before you we get a combination of options. Material surface, work surface or same side. Now obviously the best option is the same face if cutting out a 3d object, it would counter any issues with thickness irregularities. What I've found though is no way to sense the workspace surface using the probe to get a bang on spoiler board z height for using the same side for depth reference. Added to this I'm worried about having the Work Zero at the board level for the bottom as the bit would crash into the piece. So what's the correct way to use the "same side" option? Or would you recommend avoiding this?
@ooznest
@ooznest 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, we probably like to avoid having the Work Zero at board level because of making a crash more likely if you press the wrong button. So I would avoid using that setting.

Hi I Noticed Your Have Zero Off The Same Side "Ticked" - the materials pane, can i confirm this needs to be ticked ? As I'm doing a double sided print and appears to be off 20ish mill but I don't have that box ticked - as I feared it would use the same corner that's now on the bottom (when cutting second side) so would want to plow straight down and mess it all up 👍👍
@ooznest
@ooznest 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think you keep that ticked, then you don't need to re-zero when flipping. I would try a bit of scrap with it ticked and then see how that works out for you.

Awesome! How do you do the finish tool part or change the tool? Its made in vectric aspire?
@ooznest
@ooznest 3 жыл бұрын
Yes in Vectric, you can setup multiple toolpaths with different tools. These are exported as individual jobs, with manual tool changes inbetween

I’ve been trying to figure this out, and I need to know before I screw up my piece- with all of those clamps in place isn’t the dowelling system a bit redundant?
@ooznest
@ooznest 9 ай бұрын
No, because you set the centre of your work piece as the Work Zero, and cut your dowels from there. The square clamps would rely on the piece of material being perfect on all sides

Hi, enjoyed seeing the process, not into CNC, yet! Not sure I realised you could do a two sided job, so very interesting and nicely explained 😀 Just a couple of questions: How long was the actual machining time for the job, given that you speeded the video up? What size Workbee machine were you using? Lastly, will you be showing your machines at Maker Central in May? Many thanks, Dave
@ooznest
@ooznest 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, Glad you enjoyed our video on two-sided machining, The machine time was around 1 and a half hours that is including all tool paths we ran on the machine, The Workbee CNC in all our Videos is the smallest 750mm x 750mm machine. Of course, we will be showing off at least two of our machines at Maker Central in May and will hopefully have one running inside our brand new Enclosure! Hope to see you there!

hi, nice video. Question as to the user of the machine. The machine is built on the OpenBuilds system...how is its real accuracy? as far as the rollers, or not changed? thanks
@ooznest
@ooznest 4 жыл бұрын
The WorkBee was designed by us at Ooznest. All our WorkBee's are screw driven from 500x500 - 1500x1500mm. With a 500x500mm you can expect 0.05mm accuracy and 1500x1500mm you can expect 0.15mm accuracy. Yes the WorkBee use rollers.

Thank you for the information, we have practically no information about machines with this design, and are not represented on the market, mainly rails like hivin, round rails, or just cylindrical guides ... this is in Russia)

Do you think a 1500 x 1500 machine can be built successfully using 2080 v slot? Or should it be 4080 c beam??
@ooznest
@ooznest 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, we would advise C-Beam this is what the WorkBee is built with.

Which software do you use to generate model and to work with the machine? Mach3?
@ooznest
@ooznest 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Enrique! We used Vectric's Aspire for CAD & CAM on this job. This would then be processed into G-Code and uploaded to our Duet Board where WorkBee Control would run the job. Hope this makes sense but please get in touch if you have any further questions - ooznest.co.uk/help/.
