Can't you water the acrylics into a watercolour type effect for the soft focus? Or is that just going to look like you just didn't put enough paint down?

I feel some of my acrylic paintings , some on wood panel , some on canvas , are ruined because I see all the brush strokes from the varnish. I really home this works . It scares me to try this but either way I feel my paintings are ruined
