I'd like to share a somewhat controversial perspective: I am OK with you copying my art… but let me explain why.
If you are inspired by my paintings, I’d love to see you have the freedom to replicate them for training purposes. IT not only helps you find your aesthetic, it enables you to get into the mindset and vision of a master artist.
Throughout history, artists have learned and grown by emulating those they admire. Traditionally, apprentices would study under masters, copying their techniques and working closely with them.
Even though I encourage the practice, there are boundaries. Selling a copy as your own is both copyright infringement and a damaging way to start your practice. With the artist's permission, you can share your progress on social media, always crediting the original artist.
I am not only OK with you copying my work, I go further and walk you through my creative process as I paint. Over the past 4 years, I've created the learning platform that I wish I had when I was starting out as a professional artist. So if you want to learn from my work, it would be an honor to be part of your artistic journey.
