SMG ranking in the game (imo): 1.M1928 with 50rd drum 2. MP40 3. MP34 4. Sten 5. Mas38 6.Thompson M1a1 7. Grease gun

Maybe it depends on preferences but this is the worst SMG in my opinion, slowest rate of automatic fire (which is arguably the best quality of any SMG), which makes it very underwhelming in terms of suppresive fire. The height over bore of the irons also makes it difficult to make accurate shots even at close quarter, your only choice is to make shots at center of mass, which is incredibly difficult to pull off if the enemies are behind cover or going prone. The Thompson also suffers from drawbacks given above with the only redeeming quality is it incredibly fast rate of fire. Btw, awesome video as always, keep up the good work!

There is no "submachine gunner" role. You are playing the pioneer/sapper role, which means your job is to destroy fortifications, frontline objectives, spawns, and light/entrenched vehicles. There are limited pioneer/sapper kits per team. If all you are doing is playing infantry support, you are absolutely wasting the kit.

How common was the grease gun among American troops? Always assumed the Thompson was used by front line Infantry units while HQs, other support units and tankers were mainly equipped with the M3

The unit that is being used here is Sapper, which is a part of an Engineer Combat Battalion attached to an Infantry Division. Sappers breach fortifications, demolition, disable enemy weaponry & obstacles. The reason why they have a SMG is because combat is their secondary function. Same for the C.O. & P.L. platoon leader, because their main objective is to command the M3 or Carbine that they are issued as per the TO/E is a PDW for emergency situations. Now if there was an assault class with this weapon as in HLL then I'd believe what you're saying but just don't go making things up, i mean it's ok for you to believe but don't try to get others to co~sign that bs. ❤

EDIT: Sorry about the confusion in the start! The part where I explain the smg role is meant to be a general advice for any historical ww2 milsim game with an smg class. I actually wrote the script for a game called Red Orchestra 2, but I scrapped the video because I couldn't find any good servers and so that is why I don't specifically talk about it in the context of a sapper. I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL :D btw, I am working on a "Military Simulator Guide" in order to try to get more people into this genre I also have people asking me about streaming and... yes I do plan on streaming in the future! Right now, I just don't have the facilities and equipment for streaming but that is in the works too.
