technically HLL has no hit markers, but a hit sound. Hitting someone, especially with single/semi auto weapons is very distinct. especially if you got a headshot.

I'm actually glad that it's not free to play. Everyone starts somewhere, but most new players think it's a normal shooter that you play like any other and that can limit the gameplay a lot... if you've been playing the game for a while you notice it quite a lot when it's on sale xD like I said, everyone starts somewhere, but people who buy it usually spend more time on it. that just makes the gameplay better for everyone. But I have to say, I'm glad that HLL is getting so many new players all the time. The learning curve is high, but after that it's so much fun. It brings players closer together than any other game I've played. So keep playing HLL! Greetings from Germany❤

HLL was my first MILSIM game. I'm dieing a lot but it's kinda addicting. My 3rd game I played was a tank gunner and my tank officer was really experienced and talked me through what to do. That was probably the most fun I've had in the past year playing a game. For those with experience it really helps a lot if you give us noobs some tips or help us out sometimes

I totally agree with you. HLL being free on Epic was a really good move to put the milsim genre back to peoples radars. Now that is not longer free, I feel that an alternative should be mentioned; Battlefield 2: Project Reality. Its a free mod that can pretty much run in any computer, with a fairly active community and a very similar gampley to that of Squad and HLL. I think that for a free game its really the best way of people to be introduced to the milsim genre.

HLL is much, much less hardcore than S44. Both games take some learning, but if you're used to Enlisted, Battlefield, etc., HLL is not a big jump. On the flip side though, it is a way more casual community and voice comms and teamwork are lacking in most games. Squad 44 is the opposite, but much more fun imo.

I have been curious with milsim games, watchin youtube and their some hilarious and like really "mil-sim" communications and executions and it really got me hooked. HLL being getting free was one of the best thing that happened for me because i was planning to save money for SQUAD on the next steam sale (considering Project Reality doesnt have much servers on asia side and not much playerbase anymore since i last checked it) and im really enjoying the hell out of it edit: being a medic crawling in the middle of a crossfire to revive teammates was the best feeling i ever had so far playing this game

Ever since I transitioned over to Squad from HLL I just can't go back because HLL feels so arcadey in comparison and the lack of communication in HLL is just another nail in the coffin for me. squad is like 60fps and hll is like 30fps, once you try squad or squad 44 you can go back to hll i have 1.5k hours in hll and 1k hours in squads combined i havent played hll in 2 years

I enjoy the game, and yeah kills didnt really mattered to me when I was playing. On that Saint map or whatever I was so immersed in the enviroment and rubble of the map and I managed to flank some soldiers and shot them all, my heart was racing cuz my awareness went up even more

I was maybe 12 years old, but I remember hiding in some building and suddenly a tank drives through the building just in front of me, and it felt like I was there in real life. When I heard HLL was going free on epic, within half a minute I had it added and was downloading it The first 3d shooter I had a chance to actually play is a classic and iconic milsim: Project Reality: Battlefield 2. I prefer milsims cause I think that 1: they give a bit of a more accurate idea of what combat is like, thus not giving the idea of "running around, shooting, being a hero" (I'm SURE there are little timmys out there that got the wrong idea of reality from too much arcade shooter), and 2: that in a way, games like HLL with it's horrifying aspects do a better job of educating us, the people that came after Greatest Generation *and any generation of veterans that saw combat, to understand what they have gone through and honor their sacrifices, and remember them. This is just my opinion, though.

HLL has 2 Choices: 1. Do what Post Scriptum did and go Casual( take that HLL was always more casual than PS) Lose all its hardcore players that Know how to Lead and teach new ones because they don't want COD in their Milsim. 2. Stay true to Milsim and have 90% of new players Chase out Old Players that know what they are doing out, because the gameplay became stupid. Or 90% of new players leave because the game is "too hard and needs Easy setting" And since the game is FRee now theres even less commitment than When Post Scriptum went super cheap to get more casu... I mean players. Also, who's Government?

You can't really go wrong with Arma 3. It came out in 2013 so should run on any modern computer. Just today had 17000 player peak so still very active community.

HLL in asia as an English speaking person is not a fun experience. No one speaks unless I speak first even then its like I'm talking to myself. And the teamkills on spawn absolutely ruin the game since people are trying to get to the vehicle of their choice and teamkilling people who get there first. I only really play squad (the modern one) and it's a way better introduction to milsims. People are very helpful and forgiving to new players and they actually are obligated to talk

For games like HLL it usually works to select a lower quality preset, but my specific tip is to turn down the duration that dead bodies remain loaded, turn down shadow quality, and turn down minor graphics elements like reflections, this should allow you to keep most of the visuals on Ultra or High.

I think the problem with hll this game is hard to chill. HLL is a very good game but such games make a person tired. You look around like a madman. You look at the pixels if you are sure it is an enemy and not a post, etc. If every 5th player stays after this wave at this game it will still be a wolves success.

Screaming in Russian in the local chat is something I haven't done yet in HLL.. but I will often say things with a German or Austrian accent when on the German side, especially riding in a truck (GET TO TEH CHOPPA/TRUCK!), or I will say lines from Pvt Ryan in a Forest Gump voice. "Momma said to get off the beach and clear those merdahholes" Who says you can't have fun in a warsim? All the newbs on your own team make it less enjoyable, but all the newbs on the OTHER team make it more enjoyable, so its 50/50 that they let the gamepass people on.. I am rank 338 in game, have had HLL since 2019 and watched all the improvements and foul ups the devs have made in the last 6 years. Vehicles were a nice addition after the first iteration of the Forest Gump simulator.. "I felt like running."

I got into milsim when I got my ps3 and I baught a game called operation Flash point Red river the campaine Was pretty short but I like the game so much that I baught the newer game operation Flash point dragon rising (ngl it was shit but still a decent milsim)

I remember those games back on my Xbox 360 and they had the most ridiculous control layout I've ever come across, and I couldn't figure out how to change them (you could only do stuff like "swap aim and trigger buttons")... That made me not play that game a lot, can't remember which exact one it was. It was something crazy like pressing B/Circle to shoot, D-Pad down to jump, aim with the grenade button (over right trigger), etc.

Honestly man, im glad i refunded the game twice on steam a while ago, now its free on Epic. The game actually boring than i was expecting to be, I play Squad more (i actually refunded SQ44 due to low pc requirements) and the game is more engaging than HLL, this game doesnt not rewarding the player much, most of them all just shoot, run, and die.. even though i like the 1 shot kill style. Players does not use their mic making the game feel quiet, this game also kinda mixed between Battlefield and isonzo but both game is actually better than HLL. I just play this game again for the first time and maybe i need to discover more about the game but at the end is just a "run and gun" gameplay. Squad is a game that make player feels rewarded, with slow paced tactic you have to decided what you want to do next, you cannon just run for 5 mnt in nowhere and SQLead will kick you instantly, but coms is the most important in Squad that what i feel enjoyed a lot, not all people are serious, some guy also drop a song into their mic or when match ended ppl will scream like crazy. For my opinion HLL has runs better than Squad, you can also hide behind on the grass or foliage without being seen and Official Servers!. Overall both game has their own advantages, maybe ppl want a casual game but with small tweak of hardcore added.

I am enjoying this game while having an average K/D ratio is 0.33. Buts those rare games with 22 kills games or blowing tank are pure joy.

I new on hell let loose, i play on Xbox is my first milsim game. The learning curve is big but when you take time to learn the mechanics it's a great game , man for me who loves band of brothers play one match on foy such a great time.

I always loved milsims, I played a good bit of Arma 3 Antistasi with friends every year for the past 5 years and its an awesome experience. I also tried out War of Rights with a friend but we got turned off at the game due to the playerbase mostly due to loads of trolling happening at the time and we weren't really enjoying the game (though doing the rebel yell and charging was pretty fun, in one charge I soloed 5 guys before being shot at point blank range). I do recommend it to others I just personally didnt have the best of times. I also got Squad44 a few months back and it was a mixed bag due to my PC refusing to work with the game, low frames, crashing, stuttering and what not (mind you I got a 2060 super and a ryzen 3700) but when the game worked it was so much fun. The first match in one of the market garden maps (I think?), there was this kinda like big plantation house that me and a friend were holding, when the opposing team started to slowly make their way in my monkey brain went into WW1 mode (because I played a shitton of Verdun and Isonzo, WW1 a mix of arcade and milsim), I fixed my bayonet and just started running around the house just stabbing people. In 5 minutes I cleared out the whole house with a double digit kill count, its really funny to hear someone say: "I hear someone running" right before I spot them and yell "BANZAI" to scare the shit out of them before I kill them. Milsim with the right mindset is as fun and even more fun when you know how to play the game and even LARP. As Mr Rat man said its a different genre, take it slow, calm down and play tacticly. Think about your next move and read your surroundings. Milsim to me was a great gateway into LARPing and man its so much fun when you get a squad of people who all talk and are willing to banter screaming "MEDIC!" and "THEY GOT ME MAN, TELL MY WIFE I AINT MAKING IT BACK" as they get shot. Thank you!! And I do hope Squad 44 works better for you in the future, war of rights is also fun but the player base can sometimes uhhh let’s just say not be KZbin friendly.

War of rights is really enjoyable with a regiment. After playing as a skirmisher with the 2nd US Sharpshooters, I couldn't go back to lineman infantry in pubs.

Absolutely don't want this game for free. I want players who buy it that are truly interested in it. Not all these tweedle dick Timmy's coming from cod and taking SL roles and doing nothing with it
