I have a lovely, one-owner 260Z 2-seater in need of restoration. The plan is to sell the other Z's and electrify this. After owning a Tesla for 14 months, never going backwards. No matter how fun petrol fumes, carburetors and 5-speed manuals are. Lose a lot but gain so much more - especially the most valuable thing for me, TIME. Drive-Park-Charge-Go again

my mother in laws 1960's 500 is sitting in the basement garage in Rome waiting for somethign like this - obvious two questions are cost and who can/needs to fit the kit - presume its not a diy kit with all the hv?

Interesting kit. It'd make one of them a fair amount more peppy to drive, considering it's quadrupling the HP. Also thought it was funny how he was trying to demonstrate the shifter, but the camera cut to the shifter in the vehicle.

This is how cars should be made nowadays. An electric kit and then you go out and find a shell of your choice. Coach builders would be back in business. You could even think of a 4 wheel chassis and roll bar with standard points for fixing body panels to it and you then go out and buy the panels for the type of car you want.

One question why don’t you offer one that connect to automatic gear would the gears not give you a faster 0-60 and faster top end. Pls excuse me if I am being an idiot while I understand the basics of electric cars I am coming from a history of ICE vehicles and truly don’t know. That said this car and kit looks awesome. I would love one for a Volvo es1800 maybe a 75

If it doesn't need a clutch, and it runs through a locked gear box why not just attach it directly into the differential?

I wouldn't be happy with putting that sort of torque through a Reliant differential. My wife owned a Honda Gold Wing trike, the rear end being reliant. A common choice owing to it's relatively narrow track, and simplicity. The problem of cause is, the 124 hp provide by the Gold Wing engine is considerably more than the diff was designed for. After destroying two rear axles, and having a very narrow escape when the second axle's completely locked up on the M6 motorway (fortunately at low speed due to a Traffic jam) It was returned to the dealer. We found out later that the dealer repaired the trike, and it was sold on to a woman in London. I hope that she only uses it around London, and is not too eager with the throttle....

Drum brakes with all that power! I have a Bentley MKVI Special with a RR B81 Straight 8 6.5Litre engine with standard drums and that takes some planning to ensure you stop in time. Think I might have opted to covert this S2 to discs. Also what does a conversion like this cost (plus car).

Classics are classics for a reason - sticking electric motors in everything is a farce. Let the fan base fire away.....

I have had two in my car history, not electric, but conversion was not yet in sight at that time.

I have to disagree im afraid. Why anyone would put a battery into a classic car like this, is beyond my understanding. Its not a classic 595, fiat 650, alfa twin cam, or anything else remotely similar, unless you get the sound of the ice and the smell from the carbs. This is just driving a retro toaster. EVs have their place. As i mostly drive within a 15miles radius for work, i would use one in a heartbeat. This though, this is sacrilegious
