Rhiannon. do you have a clue what your talking about ? Weetabix is seen by the body when eat on empty stomach as sugar! blood sugar rises . YOU NEED TO STOP SAYING CEREAL ARE GOOD FOR KIDS WHEN THEY ARE NOT! KIDS SHOULD NOT EAT CEREAL. YOU DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT BREAD IS NO GOOD FOR YOU! Recent telegraph article you state “The sugar content in Weetabix is minimal, which helps to manage blood sugar levels. This is really important for energy, and especially relevant to children. Sending your child to school after a sugary bowl of cereal will cause their blood glucose levels to rise quickly, then dramatically plunge, which will leave them feeling hungry and likely unable to concentrate,” says Lambert.

This is total bogus information. First of all, the guy who theorized the blue zones, Dan buttener, has no medical background whatsoever. And the idea that people in the blue zones live to 100, was based on fraudulent birth certificates. A nutritionist named Mary Ruddick traveled to ikaria Greece, one of the blue zones. She went to a restaurant there, and everything on the menu was meat and some fish. There were no vegetarian dishes. Hong Kong consumes the most meat per capita, and they have the longest lifespan on Earth. India consumes a mostly vegetarian diet and the average lifespan in India is 72. Mexico consumes a lot of rice, beans, and other carbs. Average lifespan in Mexico is 75. Watch the documentary called fat fiction.

Ask yourself what is in a mothers breast milk that allows an infant to grow and thrive. I believe that's a decent place to start a nutrtional foundation. These two are spreading mis-information and Professor Bart Kay would annihilate them in a science based discussion.

Every diet is a fad. Even the Mediterranean diet is a fad. In fact most nations including the healthiest (Sardinians) eat red meat, lots of full fat dairy, fish, poultry and bread made of refined grains. They do not eat 80% whole grains...

Have either of you tried the carnivore diet? Your example of babies on this diet is an extreme rarity. Theres always going to be people who will go to extremes. Do some research, not from your vegan associates, and you will find much data to support the carnivore diet.

Great episode with lots of useful information. I’m not sure many people see tinned fruit and veg (as long as they’re not in syrup) as “ultra processed” and in some circumstances tinned can be more nutritious than “fresh”. Also, while there certainly is room for ultra processed food in a healthy diet, the balance is the main issue (50% of the adult diet coming from UPF, with the % of children’s diets estimated as being higher than this). I appreciate the nuanced nature of the discussion (unlike the approach of the Glucose Goddess). It’s never one thing - and deep down we all know this - but it’s so tempting to fall for these silver bullet solutions. Keep up the good work!👍

Imagine weaning babies off animal milk (human breast milk) saturated fat, protein, and lactose to force feed them plant fibre.
@AstonAcademia
@AstonAcademia 18 күн бұрын
You know, it's pretty incredible when you think about it, babies have such tiny stomachs and their digestive systems are still figuring things out. This makes them super vulnerable to not getting the right balance of nutrients. Let's break it down a bit. Breast milk is loaded with lactose - about 7g per 100mL. That's not just a random number; it's exactly what babies need for all that rapid growth they're doing. Now, protein is tricky. We all know it's important for growth, but here's the kicker, too much of it can actually be hard on a baby's kidneys, which are still developing. Breast milk nails it though, with just the right amount (usually 0.9-1.2g per 100mL). It's mostly whey protein too, which is easier for babies to handle than the stuff in cow's milk. The fats in breast milk are pretty fascinating. There's about 3.5-4.5g per 100mL, and it's packed with DHA and ARA. They're crucial for brain and eye development. Here's the best bit - the fat content actually increases during a feeding, to make sure the baby gets all the fat-soluble vitamins and calories they need for optimal growth and development. Since you mentioned plant fibre, introducing plant-based foods too early can be risky business. A baby's gut isn't ready for complex plant proteins, and it could lead to allergies or absorption issues. Plus, plant-based diets often miss out on iron, zinc, and vitamin B12 - stuff that breast milk has in spades. The overall makeup of breast milk (40-50% carbs, 40-55% fat, 7-8% protein) isn't set in stone. It actually changes throughout the breastfeeding journey and even during a single feed. Pretty amazing how it adapts to what the baby needs, largely based on what mom's eating. Breast milk's got more things besides macro and micronutrients, which often fly under the radar. Specifically I'm referring to the immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, and oligosaccharides. To keep it simple, these compounds act as the body's first line of defense, helping build the infant's immune system and cultivating a healthy gut, thus which help regulate digestion, absorption, and nutrient utilisation. My youngest loves Avocados, potatoes, beef, lamb, berries, pears, butter, and eggs. Simple sugars, gut-friendly fibres, saturated fats, and protein. So yeah, when it comes down to it, breast milk is the gold standard. Soy formula just doesn't compare.

High cholesterol and LDL has zero evidence that it causes any issues when you are eating on a carnivore diet. Cherry picked Data surveys show people eating processed food like a burger which has a thin piece of meat and they blame diseases on this meat but not the problem with the over sugary bun that is banned in all of Europe for the seed oils and sugar content or the Ketchup that's more sugar than tomato then add some fries and wash it down with a diet coke that is more harmful than any of it. It's just crazy thinking like this doctor why we are in this problem. She doesn't understand the real issues nor is she willing to see how many people going carnivore are literally reversing cancer, severe inflammation causing issues, autoimmune diseases, etc, etc...and the list is longer than any other diet that is curing and helping people.

When bread is called 'ultra-processed', I wonder about 'the science'! At this rate, even chopping something before eating it or cooking it will be treated as suspicious, and then you get Zoe pushing some powder which is supposed to contain 30 plants. Some people are paid too much to create nonsense.
