With the first gen of QD-OLED, there was a huge problem of bent panels from the factory. A different type of uniformity issues if you will, might actually be another Samsung QC error. I was interested in trying my luck and getting a Samsung, but seeing this story play out is giving me strong doubts. Thanks for showing this in such detail

You should make the jump to mini LED. I can almost guarantee you would like it better than OLED tech because it can do 95% of what OLED can do and a whole lot that OLED cannot do. You get beautifully stable brightness aka far far less ABL, amazing dark room and bright room performance, vastly better HDR experience with specular highlights that are on a completely different level, vastly better peak brightness, better color gamut coverage, no risk of burn in, way better shadow detail, better panel longevity... You're basically trading all of these massive advantages in for 5% better black level performance that you will never even notice.

Also own two QD TVs, one of which is Samsung. So, I know how QD is good. Add OLED to that and you struck gold... in paper, at least. No one is saying otherwise. However, from your own testimony, the Samsung TVs are not what you expected and paid for. You're either reporting us an experience that doesn't reflect reality or you're coping. You're chasing the proverbial Dragon; craving for an experience that exists only in the perfect Samsung you don't find, despite trying 4. Any other product, you would have moved on, already. Consider this perspective: I'm sure you don't think your time is worthless. So, how many hours have you spent back and forth, either on the phone or in person to set this through? Now, multiply that by your hourly rate. How much has the TV ended up costing you? Maybe you should have gotten a Sony QD OLED instead... just putting it out there

Low lag frame generation is the future for HDR pictures that have decent motion, and Samsung has a head-start for that no doubt. That much is a fact. The problem is, in order for it to make the biggest difference, we would need panels with refresh rates that go much beyond the input signal (like, we'd accept the fact that the hypothetical TV can only take 4K120 real, but low-lag interpolation creates 3 intermediate image on its native 960hz panel). We're definitely not there yet, and I will wait a couple of years with my GX and G1 before we see where this goes. Since I mostly play PC, GPU-based and software frame gen are available to me to reach those 120fps which doesn't make a world of difference compared to Samsung's 144hz maximum, and I still get to sacrifice brightness for motion when needed. Though I acknowledge the peak brightness levels are nowhere close to begin with. I still have some hope that some LCD monitors with optimal backlight strobing will give me CRT-like motion clarity with HDR400-level brightness (or even 800 if we're optimistic) all with better-than-before black levels due to mini-LEDs, but for a no-compromise HDR experience (i.e., in the 1000-2000nits ballpark), we just need much higher panel refresh and major improvements in on-display low-lag frame generation...
