This is my 4th OLED since spring time due to issues with the panels and an unwillingness to price match. They were C3’s and C4’s with dead pixels and green tint. So, from what I’m getting with your comments. Gen 3 is worse than Gen 2 in terms of peak brightness? I’m a black frame insertion fan due to the fact that everything else looks like it has motion interpolation. But the downside of that is that it dims the picture significantly. I can brighten it through the regular settings, but that would have to be through contrast enhancer. I was wondering if going into the service menu would brighten things up a bit for black frame insertion fan

Ari haven't watched the video yet but I will, just wanted to say before it's too late imo return the 90C & D's, give the C1 to the family and just bite the bullet and get a S95D. I promise you you'll like it, 3100 nits gen 3 panel (extra burn in protection etc), it is THE reference tv right now. The matte finish isn't like the over the top ones they put on the monitors, it's not noticeable at all in a typical room environment and is actually a net positive cause of the anti glare. All the calibrators and enthusiasts on the avs forums think so too. And worse comes to worse can't they always do change of mind returns? C's and 90D's are pretty easy to find on the second hand market, but not so much S95Ds..

There are no dropout issues with the S95D OCB (well technically there is @144hz but it's just a handshake issue and is avoidable easily enough, never drops during play however). Cyber Monday sales are still on. And the matte is actually a positive with the way they've done it I'm telling you, almost everyone who has one thinks so.

So far, I don't see any comments here saying that. It is very obvious that it doesn't have the 2000 nits panel. When measuring full screen brightness the accuracy doesn't matter and this one measures around 200 nits and not over 300 like the S95C

Are you sure about the flashlight test and the panel version? I got a brand new S90D (germany model) from amazon 3 week ago and the reflection shows a full red circle with no greens on any side, but with green inside the ring. According to your description this should be a 1st gen panel, but I dont think they use 1st gen panels on S90Ds. I got the 65 inch version and its definitely a QD Oled as the pixel structure clearly shows up on a photo done with my phone.

The different flash light of your phone might be the difference. I tested this with 3 different phones. The Gen3 green is very subtle and the red is not as strong as Gen1. If you go to the service menu let me know the ANAPEAK values

Red RIng with green inside, but what I noticed with both phones is a subtle green reflection patch clearly outside and seperated from the red ring on the left side of it (from my view).

Are both lux-meter "tested" with ANAPEAK @ stock value? A lux-meter is not really accurate though. You need at minimum a i1 Display Pro colorimeter to make sure. You can't gauge it based on ANAPEAK value either. A gen 2 S95C/S90D is 667/682, but the max is 2000, not 1500.

That seems like a serious legal issues having customers gamble on the quality of a TV. What would you recommend for someone looking to buy either a 77 inch or 83 inch OLED? I was going to pull the trigger on either a 77 or 83 inch S90D, but I'm kinda paranoid about what my money is going into after watching this video. The brightest panel and the lottery of uniformity will decide and not the model. The calibration of them is different, and the S90D is the best in that regard, but I'd take an S90C Gen2 2000 over an S90D Gen3 1500

The info button works differently depending on qhere you hit it. For example on Netflix it tells you if the video is 4k HDR, and Mb. To access the service menu is info then factory right after.

In my calibration, the movie and fmm modes are deadly accurate with some minor white balance tweak. But game mode(non pc input,vrr on) though, i have to tweak the color sliders very hard, best i can do is a ΔE 1.84 in HCFR's color checker. Other thing is seems like you got the latest firmware, you must check if the brightness are locked to 1000nits in movies modes even with the mod, if so you should leave the middle two peak w. values at default.

Yes, I bought it for 1899 francs during the Black Friday sale. I went into the menu today so I could check the values. But it is definitely a Woled panel, 77 inches. Model GQ77S90DAE. As far as I know, the 65-inch series is GQ65S90DAT. The T is only on the 65-inch. No idea why the values ​​are there and how many nits the TV has. But the picture is super bright in HDR gaming.

Hi i actually got a qd oled s90d but I’m having some problems: sometimes a flicker happens, sometimes a change of color/brightness to a static part of the screen(background in a movie for example), and sometimes the motion seems to get wrong for a fraction of a second it’s like when you watch a movie on a very old pc, and it’s not powerful enough so it skips a frame or stutters.. do you know of any fixes to these problems? Also should i do a firmware upgrade now maybe it will fix these? Or will the tv get nerfed?

You can try disabling ASBL dimming by changing screen brightness Saver from 7 to 0 on the service menu. I showed how to do that before. I haven't tested motion for movies yet

I was able to enter in the 2000nits mod into my s90d and according to the Windows hdr calibration app I was getting 1800nits even though my default anapeak was 682. I wasn't able to measure the brightness with any tools though but everything looked correct to my eyes

The HDR calibration app doesn't trigger the HGIG tone mapping, if you open a game or a test pattern video, you'll see how the clipping point changes

The S90D in Europe is not QD-OLED. I am from Serbia and wanted to order it from Hungary, I talked to their support and asked them to elaborate on which panel I'm getting and the customer support agent literally told me they are not allowed to share that info. Samsung are big liars. They have two companies that make panels and they also take a cheap panel from LG WOLED NO} QD-OLED. You have several levels of panels. America A is the cheapest. Europe E is the middle B. Britain is the best and most expensive. Sold only in Korea. K panel.
