You have a mistake in the reductive elimination step. You have a C (the one on which is the H which migrates) next to the N, which comes from nowhere.

Hi Botond, I relabelled the R1 group to R1' in the video when I discussed the beta hydride by-product (note the prime to show it is a derivative of R1). Does that help? I admit the prime is difficult to spot in the video if the resolution is low on playback.

Can someone please explain to me the blue signal? why is it a triple of quartets and not a quartet of triplets? What is the difference? Thank you in advance

Hi Aliki, the largest splitting (J coupling) forms the initial triplet and this can be seen if you look at the peak intensities (1:2:1 for the triplet shape). We would therefore start by naming the peak as a triplet because of this. We then assess the smaller splitting (J coupling) pattern of each peak in the triplet - in this case each of the triplet peaks form a quartet. Therefore it is a triplet of quartets. Hope this helps.
