He did not succeed. He and his co-conspirators were convicted to be hanged, drawn, and quartered.

Any movie where an artist takes down a theocratic monarchy that uses religion to it's own ends is a winner.

Mystery Men (1999), which is hilarious and has a great all-star cast , is technically a DC Comic. Mystery Men Comics was published by Fox Features Syndicate from August 1939 to February of 1942. It was an anthology title featuring super-heroes ('mystery men' was an early term for super-heroes). It is noted for introducing the character of Dan Garret, the original Golden Age Blue Beetle. DC Comics now owns the Blue Beetle, but does not own any of the other features in Mystery Men Comics. I very highly recommend it ✌🏽🤘🏽🖖🏽

Great reaction and a very deep movie. Asia, the 5th of November is a holiday in the UK, kinda like our Halloween. The kids go door to door saying penny for the Guy and people will give loose change. The then make Guy's with firecrackers in side and then set them on fire, probably no longer legal, in remembrance of Guy Fawkes, who was a real person and did attempt to blow up Parliament. Valerie, the Lesbian, was in the next cell to him at the facility, she passed the note through the hole in the wall, but she died in the facility and was thrown in the mass grave. Somehow during and after the fire, he kept the note and then put it in the hole in the "cell" in his house for Evey to find. It was that note (partly) that gave Evey the strength to resist and enabled her to find out her own character. He then also had that room with a monument to Valerie in his "house" as a tribute to her, also that particular type of Rose was another tribute to Valerie. - No one really knew who he was, the Doctor said that he had lost all his memory, even he had no idea who he used to be.

"The Fifth of November" refers to the date of the Gunpower Treason. In 1605, there was a conspiracy to kill King James, I, of England and the House of Lords. They planned to explode the Parliament on November 5. The main conspirator was a man named Guy Fawkes. The conspiracy was foiled and the conspirators were executed. The mask that "V" wears is known as the "Guy Fawke" mask.

Fun fact: James Purefoy, the actor who played Marc Antony in Rome, was originally cast as V. In fact, some of V's scenes are actually Purefoy playing the character with Hugo Weaving's dubbed over his.
