The pool scene was real btw. They had oxygen hoses under the water. The people tied to the chairs? Real. The camera pans up to their legs twitching so you don't see them being fed oxygen. The actor who played the Bughuul was underwater for 3 HOURS STRAIGHT because if he kept getting out and back in would have ruined the costume. He had weighted shoes on and was underwater for 3 hours being fed pxygen through a hose. When the director shouted "action" he took a big hit of O2, held his breath, and actually walked along under the pool.

I feel like score isn't really talked about much with horror movies, but Sinister's score is so haunting. Like the main score when he's watching the videos. Gives me chills just imagining that music. Also, when they filmed it, Ethan Hawke hadn't seen the film reels, so his first reaction at the beginning was real.

Cool fact about Baghuul: his origins aren't just tied to modern folklore; some believe he represents an ancient fear of storytelling itself, where the act of recording dark tales gives life to the evil within them. In a way, he's a warning about the power of what we choose to preserve and share.

I LOVE horror/scary/thriller movies. Most of them I watch no problem. I live on the ground floor of my home by myself. It has an entrance to our yard, which is quite dark at night, with some lights, a state park/forest on one side, and the Pacific Ocean straight ahead. Point is, it’s quite desolate. So, watching most scary movies I’m fine. But no matter how many times I’ve seen this movie, it scares the shit outta me. I’m talking that laying in bed not wanting to move scared. This is one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen.

Asia, when you ask, “Why do he keep watching? He’s still watching…..the reason why he is watching the films he found in the attic, is because he is a true crime author. He moved to the town (in that house) so he can write about the murder that took place. The films depict various murders on various families. Up until then, he thought it was just the family who was hung. The films provide material. He’s researching. He’s gathering information. So he can write his book.
