Our flue was triple insulated through the roof but below the ridge. Got one piece of uninsulated stainless and a wind vane cap to keep the open side downwind. Couldn't get the good vane cap that looked like a gladiator helmet so had to get a teardrop spaped piece to get the cheap cap to catch more wind. Riveted to the cheap cap it worked and kept the cap turned downhill and the rain out of the pipe but the only cresote we got was in the uninsulated piece and cap. The rest was hot enough going up but it cooled off enough to condense. It's clean now but will be unused. Toots is gone to replenish the store of gas bottles and a good STRONG flashlight because our standby wouldn't turn off. Out it went. Be careful and you ought to have fire(S) now. God Bless Yall this new year!

I still need to weld up the cracks in the box. With a blower supplying air to the box it will be shooting sparks into the room if I don't. Also need to rework the doors hinge pins. The top one rusted in place and snapped off. I'll just drill it out and replace both with a stainless bolt and nut.

Why did you go through all that just to pop it out with a flat head screw driver?
@OldSneelock19 сағат бұрын
The purge pump was just a part of the problems with this chainsaw. It wouldn't start easily and when it did start it only ran for a short time. On other two stroke engines with diaphragm carbs I had found old, cracked fuel lines so I pulled off the covers and checked the lines. While I was doing that I cleaned the area around the carb and checked the fuel filter. The gas tank was leaking. The oil tank was leaking out of the case somewhere. No oil was getting to the bar. I had never worked on this model before. So I was searching for the source of the leaks. I wanted to get it started before I spent a lot of time on fixing the other problems. If I couldn't get it to run the rest of the problems didn't matter. I like working on machines with a lot of problems. I can spend time on one machine and fix multiple issues. That lets me show how I fixed the various problems and help others fix the problems on their machines.

Yea I'm sure your ready for it. It's getting mid winter and sadly plastic can't handle that unless it's good quality or fiberglass reinforced. For small tasks like that a toolbelt is a but too much at times. I always have a pica pencil in a holder that has a clip on it so it can be a tape for a impact on my belt. Often that does the trick for stuff like that and the best lesson I've ever learned goes along with it. If you need 2 screws on a ladder you need 4 to 6 your bound to drop one. Having just enough is a recipe for going back to the store over and over 😆.

I still think taking a portaband and cutting that metal on site would make things sweet for ya of they let you or at least more mangable chunks. Growing up its was Felpauch was the expensive store meyers next then aldis/savealot. We got excited when we went to get name brand stuff at meyers instead of toringos at aldis. Not suprised thats 180 at meyers i know someone who works customer service at fremont/angola IN store and she gets tons of complaints daily when its out of her control. Few things i like about oregon is no sales tax and we dont pump our own gas creates alot of jobs. May not be exciting stuff but it sure does save tons of money! thanks and be blessed.

Be too. The old shop was bigger and two story with the upstairs uninsulated and the old Peacock Wood Stove got it up to shirtsleeves even in 10 deg weather. I had a couple old squirrel cage fans out of house furnaces that I set behind it and a ceiling fan to bring the heat down from the roof. This furnace is forced air and has an air jacket with squirrel cage blower. I bought a big ceiling fan and wired in an outlet for it overhead. I should be plenty warm. I bet I go through the cord of wood I have stockpiled pretty quick though. 😁😎

@@lewiemcneely9143 We are doing better today. Odette and Cadryn were sick. Odette had a temperature of 103 on Christmas day. She is still slightly warm but that's how the body kills stuff it doesn't want in there. We have been praying for the people that got washed out. So much going on and so much to pray for. Yeah my buddy put some of those things in his mouth, well I tell ya that's not my cup of tea or cup of snails. Our stove died so the mother in law bought us a new one for Christmas, haven't got it yet. After the stove the dishwasher died and I am not the dishwasher so I am still alive and well. Got the parts yesterday and fixed it but it gave me a run for my money. It was making noise and there's a thing in there they call a chopper. It's to chop up bits of food. It's two pieces, a blade and a spring and the springs sets in a locating hole. The locating hole is in a plastic piece and that piece broke and let the spring move around. That's what was making noise. The machine has to be 30 to 35 years old so we have gotten our money's worth out of it but I got it fixed so Thank you Lord. I had to break up the plastic pieces to get it apart and that was a bit scary because I never had one apart before and was afraid of breaking some part that I didn't get. All went well in the end. Here's a video of a dishwasher that I think is newer than mine. I used this video to help me fix it but God watched our me and calmed me down each time I got frustrated. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmOVl6mVbbl8q9U Have a great day.

That is where a overhead hoist would be fantastic 😀. My grandpa had scraps of tar paper under stuff on the floor in cold areas including the garage. It's one of thoes things I never thought about other than he said put that tar paper under it and I'd get a stare if I didn't. That hub you have looks like it would greatly help assembly if you had carriage bolts 🔩 for self aligning. Also nylon or even neoprene washers may help under rhe bolt heads for lining things up. It's hard to minaplulate small things when it's really cold out I get it. I went to machining cnc school for a while and yeayou can only take so much off before you expose a natural flaw in the material which will Crack and break it. When we had a abrasive that had a low spot in it we soaked that spot in oil on a rag to help expand the media a little it took care of small misalignment and balanced out the weight better. Yes if you have ever touched a lathe or mill you were bombarded with math on sfm calculations. If you didn't understand the match you learned what looked and sounded right sheer experience. Goes to show when you know you know 👍. I'd love to see heat in there more than a grinder though 😆. Sorry took me a day or two to get to these videos no ccs and busy season but we got there.

Did people store them outside or did they just end up outside as decorations? Getting wet and then freezing must've taken a toll on a lot of them.
@OldSneelock10 күн бұрын
The grinders often had a pan that the bottom of the wheel sat in to flush off the swarf from the wheel. Since the sandstone was sitting with one edge in the water that edge soaked up water and softened. The soft spot wore more quickly and soon the wheel was out of round. I prefer a drip watering can. That way I can control the amount of washing the water does. As the stone wears the broken down, loose abrasive can build up on the surface and slow the cutting action. Want to go fast? Set the valve for a rapid drip. Want to polish the surface? Slow down the drip. With the drip can I can shut off the water so no flat spots.
