…that was well laid out & highly informative. I am in the SF Bay Area and recently sold my 1992 740 Turbo Wagon that I have owned since 1999 and in excellent shape. She had 101K miles for she was my airport car in Portland. I had so much fun with this peppy wagon and am glad it was purchased by an enthusiast from Carmel, CA.

One used to park round the corner from where I live, it was crusty as Hell. Still least it was from a time when car manufacturers were willing to take a risk in design rather than the cookie cutter bland stuff you get today. It's a popular vehicle in autocross too, and still better looking than the latest BMW's 🦫🤮

I too see one time to time not so far from my house, and it's one of the Philippe Cousteau Edition vehicles as well! They look really interesting, and I wouldn't even mind using one as a daily, although ones I see for sale (if they even go up for sale, that is) are already heavily modified for off-road usage 🙃

I had two, still own one Philippe Cousteau edition, and it's the best car in the world. Love that car, it just does everything and never fails. Looks is a matter of taste, but I think its a fun car that makes me smile every time I drive it. Also own a Suzuki Cappuccino and it's the same with that one. Great cars!

Glad to hear that! When I was writing up the script for this video - I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of support from 3000GT/GTO/Stealth owners, and the 3SI forum, along with the 3Swiki helped me out a lot! Browsed around & found an answer to just about every question I had! 😁

XJ40 was the first Jaguar drawn with a computer - Sir Bill Lyons approved. Rover SD1 was the first British car done so - in 1976. Daimler is pronounced 'Dame-ler' in English - 'Dime-ler' in Germanic languages. Vanden Plas is pronounced 'Varn-den Plars' - it's Belgian. Great video - some great footage cobbled together. Thumbs up!

I’m British and had two of them, the first a sort of metallic gold/silver and four years later white with caramel interior. Both were extremely reliable, comfortable to drive, but lacked air conditioning (which I had installed after market). They were also economical. Only my Honda NSX was better!

Mitsubishi always seemed to be doing things differently (good and bad). They seemed to emphasize and pursue technological complexity in their later cars which added weight. I had an early Tredia turbo sedan and drove the wheels off it. It was a fun cheap simple car with exploitable performance. I never got an Eclipse but I think they were similar in their approach to them and were a faster lightweight package which is why they are revered over the 3000GT.

Fail. Starion was RWD, could be V8 swapped, and the widebody looked right. 3000GT was FWD and heavy and couldn't fit adequately wide tires. Only the first 2 years of Stealth R/T looked right.

Agreed, great video, and as the owner of two 940 Estates, on turbo and one non-turbo, I’d love to see a 900 series video sometime in the future. 😃 I’m convinced the 200-700-900 series Volvos are the most robust and reliable cars ever made!

@@RedLine_Car_Show To me the Speedster was "a bike on four wheels". I bought my first one because at that time I was a bit challenging speed on two wheels. At that time I sometimes took my lady with me. Because there were three children we decided to switch to a car because this may make us survive if something goes wrong... ;-> Until then I learned to love the Speedster. But to be honest: Until today I still prefer taking a bike when riding for fun.

One correction: the VTD version had 66% of the power on the rear wheels and 33% on the front wheels that car was acting more like a propulsion car with extra grip on the front wheel like a real GT while the ACt-4 (MPT) in north america and elsewhere had 90% on the front wheels and 10% on the rear wheels, same system of AWD used in other Subaru like Imprezza and Legacy, a mostly front wheel drive car with some variable grip on the rear wheels, making them 2 very different cars on the road

The "Mark eX" as you called it wrongly is actually the Mark X (Ten) in roman numerals. It later became the 420G, the "G" stood for "Grand". The "Dime-ler" brand as you called it is pronounced Dame-ler, Daim-ler. Also, or your information, Jaguar produced cars with a "V8" engine between 1962-1967. It was basically a Jaguar Mk 2 with a Daimler 2.5L V8 installed in it. It was referred to as the 2.5 V8 and later became the V8-250.

6:57 Nope. ASC McLaren and McLaren are not the same. The first one was founded by Heinz Prechter in Los Angeles, California as the American Sunroof Company in 1965 the latter one was founded by Bruce McLaren in England in 1963.

Enjoyed, but the XJ6 was not "revolutionary" in 1968. It was an evolution of a formula already established by the Mk 10 and S-type / 420. For me the "peak" is the X300 XJR, the last XJ available with or easily converted to a manual gearbox. The S-type Diesel's ZF S6-53 bolts up to the AJ-V8, but the flex plate conversion to flywheel is not for the backyard... or at least not mine!

I had a 1984.5 US Starion. It had the same features as the 85 model year like limited slip diff, G-lateral rear skid control but it was a narrow body. I had to shop parts at both Dodge and Mitsubishi because depending on who supplied the parts, buying at the other dealer could mean double to triple the parts price. It was a good reliable car but part costs made it not worth owning long term.

I loved these things. Between 1985 and about 2000 i owned 8 UK spec starions from an '82 to a late '88. I had an original 1982 mitsubishi brochure which said the name came from the 'star' constellation of 'orion'. I've heard many people say it was a mispronounciation of stallion but thats one of those stories that has no truth behind it. Early UK cars had a non intercooled 2.0 engine making 168bhp and from '85 they got an intercooler and 177bhp. Very late UK cars got a version of the 2.6litre engine making a little more torque than the the 2.0 but less power which was weird. All the UK spec cars had lsd as standard making coming sideways out of corners part of the ownership experience. In '87 we got the wide body, with its Staggered wheel sizes and wider arches. I sold my last starion, an 88 wide body with rare (in the uk) factory air con and with a garret t3 conversion, custom exhaust, a load of other mods and a private number plate plus an absolute ton of spare parts that I'd collected over the years for £2000. I recently saw a starion sell for 25 grand.! Can't even remember the last time I saw one on the road but I'd buy one in a heartbeat and re-live my youth if I had the spare cash to buy one. Enjoyed the video anyway, brought back many memories of sideways fun.

I loved my 1986 Conquest! It would get sideways when that turbo kicked in! It had turbo printed all over the seat belts and it had tape deck controls on the steering wheel! So rad.
