Subaru Alcyone SVX: The brightest star of Pleiades

When it comes to automotive manufacturing, most of the brands adhere to established standards and trends, and are afraid to stray beyond the industry’s boundaries.
However, there are those who are brave enough to defy these standards, and Subaru is, without a question, brave enough!
Since its very inception in 1953, Subaru has positioned itself as a manufacturer that stands out, and isn't afraid to experiment. Their vehicles have always been unconventional and different from the rest, and the topic of today’s video is no exception

I'm an original owner, I bought my 1995 SVX-L brand new in 1995 and I still currently own it. It has 67k miles on the odo and now only comes out of the garage for shows. I appreciate this video!

One correction: the VTD version had 66% of the power on the rear wheels and 33% on the front wheels that car was acting more like a propulsion car with extra grip on the front wheel like a real GT while the ACt-4 (MPT) in north america and elsewhere had 90% on the front wheels and 10% on the rear wheels, same system of AWD used in other Subaru like Imprezza and Legacy, a mostly front wheel drive car with some variable grip on the rear wheels, making them 2 very different cars on the road

the Alcyone was the Japanese version of the XT series my mom had an XT turbo when my younger brother and I were young children

Yep! "Alcyone" was simply the Japanese name for the model, either way, seems awesome to own a XT, the looks of it just scream "retro-futurism"! And the quirky, asymmetrical design of the steering wheel, as well as the jet plane-inspired dash are absolutely bonkers

It looks striking even today, I think it could make somewhat of a comeback in a hybrid or electric version as a kind of halo car/tech demo for the brand.

Yeah, that commercial went like "Instead, we're gonna tell you things that are are not told about the sports car", the quirkiness of Subaru just shines through, as always😄
