14:10 'its a game show where i have to generate humor and comedy, thats my job' Its your job to generate comedy and humor? When do you plan to start? And youre not doing a terribly good job of it either.

8:35. Nicholas says no one has elongated words as much as that in the history of Just a Minute, and that Dteve deserved tp lode the subject. He is clearly forgetting all the times he has allowed Kenneth williams to get away with that sort of thing for 20 years and any time someone challenged him.on it they were unsuccessful.

I hate when Nicholas reminds people of things like beung allowed to repeat the subject on the card, usually in a non sequitar manner that isnt connected to anything else going on.

Does anyone happen to have any copies of the 1991-93 series "The Brain Drain" 1st or 2nd series, main cast being Jo Brand and Tony Hawks? Although very funny, it only lasted 2 series unfortunately.

So why did Wendy do this programme if she didn’t enjoy it? You have sixty seconds without repetition, deviation, hesitation or repetition. ‘Wendy is on this programme because of her enjoyment of money, cash, payment, folding stuff, sponduliks, a sackful of twenty pound notes, receipt of income…’

I don't remember Just a Minute being on TV. How long did it last? Still a regular on Radio 4.
@Jeevesie19882 жыл бұрын
There were several runs of it on TV throughout the 90s to the early/mid 2010s. It was never in full production, just a few limited runs of televised episodes alongside the radio productions. :)

Thank you for sharing, what I would give to go back to those days. Nobody could ever replace Nicholas Parsons on this programme - he owned it. What do we have now - 'Love Island' - god forbid.

This is generally a radio show that is still going since his passing and Sue Perkins is doing a fine job of hosting and adjudicating it now.

'All over the auction' is not against the rules! People say 'all over the shop' but it doesn't mean they're in a shop! I also think it odd that Wendy says 'I like to be all tucked in as I don't like duvets...' but how can they be all tucked in? I assume she means she sleeps with them all tucked in but how would she tuck them in once in bed?!

I use to love to listen to this on the World Service in the early 1970's on Friday Night /Saturday Morning/ It use to come on about 2330 GMT. Is this the same Peter Jones that was on "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"?

Peter Jones was so wonderful, and the other contestants always gave him a great deal of latitude with his ums and ahs. Quite rightly - his stories were sometimes legendary. In his other work - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe was greatly enhanced by his reading of the Guide.

Yes indeed! I remember shuddering at the notion of Nicholas Parsons as a Vicar in the Curse of Fenric - it would be a disastrous comedy turn for sure! But he gave a fine performance as a man of God who had lost his faith and I take my hat off to him for enhancing one of the most powerful of the McCoy stories. He will be missed.

RIP, Nicholas. Nicholas Parsons is one of the very few BBC Personalities that have held my affection and respect. A true legend. His humour and place in history encapsulated in a take off by the late great Benny Hill, in his hilarious Sale of the Half Century sketch which featured the delectable Melonie and Hill's Northern Irish foil, John 'Jackie'Wright. It's not the man himself, of course, but speaks volumes about him! Nicholas Parsons will be genuinely missed.
