I purchased a 97, single owner, <100k miles, in 2020. - No Regrets. Repairs are costly. Gas is expensive. But it's worth it. Pull the trigger if you're reading this and trying to figure out what you should do! Trust me.

@jonschlegel29615 ай бұрын
@@HenrySoBeefy man if you have a UL and the door actuator goes out it’s a $500 part. These can be expensive for parts but the labor is pretty easy if you can turn a wrench
@reggiereg10135 ай бұрын
@@HenrySoBeefy What I've been running into is a luxury car at this age; parts and labor will get you. From what I've seen on the internet, many guys with this car work on it themselves, but I'm not one of those handy guys. Tried once and made it worse, lol.
@AANTHHONYY4 ай бұрын
@@HenrySoBeefydont listen to them about it being “expensive” they sold millions and millions of these cars. Junkyards have all the parts you’ll need for cheap. They share a lot of parts between the SC300 SC400. I don’t recommend you buy new parts if you can just repair the parts you have. Make friends with machine shops, you local trustworthy mechanic and pick up some books and you’ll have a great car you can work on and repairs will be cheap and you’ll know you did it yourself. My LS400 has no dash lights. The odometer is out, the trans is rebuilt poorly, and they tried to upgrade the alarm system and I Have a parasite draw. I don’t give a F about any of that anymore. The body and paint is mint and the suspension just needs new bushings. One day I’ll fix all of the small things but why spend the money? Why invest money when the point was the car was cheap lol If I spend over 3500 on repairs for the car I basically totaled it lol

oil consumption? maybe with your car. not my stock aristo
@briann9777 ай бұрын
Like others have mentioned, a properly running IS won't burn oil and should get decent gas mileage (22-24 mpg). One of the common issues you missed was the oil seals. Due to the age of these things now, you'll likely have to change a bunch of seals (e.g. cam/crank/valve covers) if that hasn't been done before. Good call on the winter tires. It amazes me how many people don't use them.

question for LS 400 owners: do you get any of electrical issues with your ls400 ? i am asking since the cars that is +25 years old tend to have those electric nightmares when capacitors start to leak, ribbon cables and diffent control boards go bad… any negative OR positive comments ? Thank you for your time
@CluelessMediaofficial7 ай бұрын
Good question, Yes these have there electrical issues. Unfortunatly i am currently struggling with a common one which is the gauge cluster issue, the temp gauge and speedometer have gone limp lol. So i have to send it out to get rebuilt.
