An excellent combination of two very different artistic expressions. Very good musicians, very good dancer. Congratulations!

For anyone wondering, the full title is "Pieces de clavessin avec une méthode pour la méchanique des doigts où l'on enseigne les moyens de se procurer une parfaite exécution sur cet instrument", which translates to "Harpsichord pieces with a method for the mechanics of the fingers, teaching means to achieve perfect execution on this instrument". On a side note, the word "clavessin" would not be correct French nowadays, it is an old spelling for the word "clavecin" (harpischord).

Astonishing performance. Very sophisticated, yet full of madness and quite some irreverence, as it should be! Kudos to mr. Jeffrey Grossman, what an outstanding continuo!

I think of Sumner as a high baritone with a very lovely voice and great innate musicality. This aria seems low for him.

there are about 39 musicians. why not bring it down to 19? anyway, we dont hear a chorus but a bunch of soloistic voices...
@TheSebastians Жыл бұрын
Yup, the beauty of this music is that you can find performances with more or fewer players and singers! Our choices were based on the idea that Bach himself likely intended the piece to have just eight solo singers singing everything, possibly with occasional doubling (like our quartet of ripieno singers). It is indeed the opposite balance of the 20th-century norm. where there's a large chorus with an even larger orchestra. But to each his own. :)
