This is most definitely a german petromax knockoff. If you are paying around $200-300, I would get the german model. There are a number of knockoffs because the petromax is heavily sought after. That said, it's a kerosene pressure light. Americans are use to Coleman pressure lights that run on white gas and propane. The difference is how each variant achieves preheating the fuel line to vaporize the fuel. Both actually do it. Gas has a higher matchpoint, so they start quicker, but Coleman has a kerosene pressure light model. It takes more time to start. And that's the big difference between markets. Americans want to fire up their lanterns with ease. If they can turn the valve open ans push a button, is what is more popular. The kerosene takes more effort and often used in other places, because ease of getting fuel that includes jet fuel being used in Kerosene lights.

I have the G3C and the TX22. Both excellent firearms. To be honest, I have not liked the G4 series. None felt really comfortable in my hand (personal feeling) and a bit too snappy for me. This GX2 seems like a hybrid of the G2 & G4. It certainly looks better than a G4. One question, are the guide rods and striker guide plastic or have Taurus fitted stainless steel items? I changed mine in my G3C and the overall result was a much improved firearm.

Honestly, being at a $250 price point you can’t lose but I just don’t know many people who can’t afford $500 gun.. There’s just no reason not to get something like an HKCC9 or a hellcat pro comp instead of this or even a 43X Glock. But if you’re that broke and absolutely only have $250 to spend, and this is definitely the best gun… personally I carry a staccato CS, but I have a HKCC9 on order because I think that’s the best micro compact nine just because of all the research and development

If you ever need to use a gun for self defense, the police are going to confiscate the gun. I'd rather it be a budget gun than a "$$$2011". In close up defensive situations . . center mass hits should be easily achievable with such a budget option like this pistol. Especially if you are even minimally consistent on going to a range and training for it. The website for this pistol is sparse on details. No word on magazine availability or compatibility with other Taurus pistols. Personally, It's wider than it should be, but not ridiculously so. Other than that, it's a solid G2C replacement.

I really like this offering... does that one have double strike capability? They do need to add an optic cut at some point, and offer in full and compact sizes...also a tac version and threaded barrels...just because options are a good thing.

I like having manual safeties because I’m trained on the 1911. Swiping off the safety on my draw is instinctual. Swiping the safety back on when I’m done firing is also instinctual. Plus it does offer a bit more safety. The safety is great for people like me who don’t want to retrain their manual of arms.

Taurus has fooled me way to many times. Out of about 6 or more of them, I have never had a Taurus that didn't have something DEAL BREAKING WRONG with it, semi-auto or revolvers. They make mediocre junk. You get what you pay for. How much is your life worth. Save a couple hundred bucks and it costs you your life??? I don't think so.

Just an heads up to anyone looking at this, I'm pretty sure this takes glock sights for the 43x, 48, and 43. Not the sights for the 17 or 19

I will say this much, $300 GX2 costs more than a $200 - $250 G2c and the street/dealer price as of now is in the $330 range so they are not making it more affordable. Like others have said, many of us are already invested in the G series and don't need the GX2. This may be a mistake switching to the GX series and not to keeping the already proven G series. Time will tell.
