Do you just pour hot water into it to warm bottles?
@cereschill
@cereschill 5 ай бұрын
Yes! You would pour hot water into the outer chamber and your milk in the inner chamber. Then wait 7-10 minutes and have a perfectly warmed bottle!

Hi, so it is advisable not to Sterilize the chamber and the whole thing? Even if it’s meant to put breast milk. Cos as usual we will sterilize all our breast pump/milk bottle etc.
@cereschill

I am so so sorry for the late response!We don’t recommend putting your chiller parts in a sterilizer as the high heat and intensity can ruin the finish on the outer chamber and be hard on the parts overtime. You can put the inner chamber and plastic parts in the dishwasher and hand wash the outer chamber though! As an extra cleaning method, you *can* place the inner chamber in boiling water and add boiling water to the outer chamber for a short period of time, but please know that it is not necessary and we don’t recommend doing so with the plastic parts. Here’s the FDA guidance on sterilizing if it helps: “It is not possible to completely sterilize breast pump parts at home, even if you boil them. However, sterilization is not necessary to keep these parts safe and sanitary. You can do that by thoroughly washing away germs and bacteria with liquid dishwashing soap and warm water.” And our blog with all of the best cleaning tips: www.cereschill.com/blogs/news/sterilizing-disinfecting-sanitizing

I have a question. So if we dont put any ice, will the BM maintain the temperature at which it is poured? Like, if I pump freshly and pour it, will it be good after 4 hours? i ask this because im travelling to a humid hot country where I can't follow the room temperature guidelines.
@cereschill
@cereschill 4 ай бұрын
I’m so sorry for the late response! Yes, that’s right! If you don’t add ice, the chiller will just keep your milk at the same temp that it was when it was poured in which could lead to spoilage since they’ll be about body temp if you’re pouring in fresh milk
@i1f1e1
@i1f1e1 8 ай бұрын
Is this a one time pump use? For example if I have to pump twice at work I should only poor the milk in here the first time since it’s room temperature and this will make it cold, but for the second pump I should put my milk in the fridge and then wait till it’s cold to combine it ?

Hi ! I am so sorry for the late response! We haven’t been seeing these notifications for some odd reason! This is an amazing question. Most Ceres Chill moms actually do pump directly into the chiller throughout the day, mixing their fresh milk with their previously chilled milk - each batch of warm milk is brought down to safe, chilled temps with the rest of it! If it helps, the recommendation to avoid mixing different temps of milk hasn’t been updated in decades and doesn’t cite any breastmilk research. However, there’s been amazing published studies that show that mixing different temperatures of milk doesn’t increase bacteria counts at all. It’s all about doing what you’re comfortable with, though. We have some amazing information about this below, along with tutorials on how to chill first if you’d prefer to do that! www.cereschill.com/pages/benefits-pooling-breastmilk

Can I keep the cold milk in the inner chamber with ice in outer chamber for quick day trip ? I am feeding my baby the previous day milk so I’m not sure how to take it when iamb leaving the house.

Yes! You absolutely can. The ice will keep that milk cold for up to 20 hours!

When you talk about the ice melting but the milk staying at a healthy 59 degrees, isn’t the milk supposed to say at 40 degrees like the refrigerator?
@cereschill
@cereschill 10 ай бұрын
This is an amazing question! 59* is actually a perfectly safe temperature for up to 24 hours according to the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine! It doesn’t need to be at 40* or colder fridge temperatures. The Chiller can get it to that fridge-like temperature, but if it’s above that, it’s okay!

I think my milk has a high lipase content, i pumped and froze about two months worth of milk before we needed it duebto a growth spurt. He refuses it, ao kt looks like thats all bath milk now :-( i pumped this morning and put it in the fridge after it cooled down, is it too late to scald it??
@cereschill
@cereschill 10 ай бұрын
I am so sorry for the late response! You can absolutely still try scalding milk after you put it in the fridge for a few hours, but it’s good to check to see if the change in smell and taste has already occurred. If your baby is refused the milk, you can also try adding some vanilla or mixing it with scalded milk - that might help a ton!

Can you pre-chill the chambers (empty) in the fridge or freezer to help retain a colder temp?
@cereschill
@cereschill 11 ай бұрын
We don’t recommend it - freezing the chambers can lead to damage to the parts. It could damage the seal in the outer chamber and cause the inner chamber to become distorted. It’s definitely best to just stick with filling it with ice before you leave for the day!

While the colored finishes on the chillers are very pretty, I bought a plain stainless one without a finish on it since the colored finishes makes the outer chamber hand-wash only. The plain stainless outer chamber has no issues in my dishwasher. (I don't use high heat settings or heat dry.) I just wash my bottles and pumping supplies on the top rack in a bottle/pump only load to prevent any risk of staining from food items. It's great! I really wish this had been around years ago with my oldest child when I was pumping at work. But even now as a stay-at-home mom there are plenty of ways this can be useful. It is nice to know I can carry pumped milk for my baby without a massive cooler.

Oh how amazing! I hope it’s a huge help for your back to work transition! The best way to clean the parts is to hand wash everything with warm water and dish soap, but you can put the inner chamber and plastic parts on the top rack of the dishwasher. We just don’t recommend putting the parts in a sterilizer - the high heat and intensity can be hard on them and ruin the finish on the outer chamber. In case it helps, here’s the FDA’s guidance on sterilizing! “It is not possible to completely sterilize breast pump parts at home, even if you boil them. However, sterilization is not necessary to keep these parts safe and sanitary. You can do that by thoroughly washing away germs and bacteria with liquid dishwashing soap and warm water.”

I'm so excited for this opportunity! This chiller saved my breastfeeding journey. I don't think I could have made it to 12 months with my little girl without it. I had my baby during the pandemic and going back to work after 3 months of breastfeeding my little girl was so stressful and frustrating. There wasn't a clean, streamlined, easy way to store my breastmilk throughout the day. I was already carrying all these bulky pump parts and then no way to store the milk. I was on a breastfeeding forum and one of the moms linked this product. LIKE EUREKA! This thermos is perfect! It 100% saved our breastfeeding journey. Not only that, we were able to use it to keep hot chocolate hot for 10 hours on a trip. :)

If I already have cold pumped milk in the chiller, I would be a second chiller to cool new pumped milk in before adding, correct?
@cereschill
@cereschill 2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. There have been several recent published studies that show that combining fresh milk to previously chilled milk doesn’t increase bacteria counts at all - the recommendation to avoid doing so doesn’t cite any breastmilk research and hasn’t been updated in at least two decades. It’s apparently based on how regular food reacts to temp change! Most moms pool their milk all together in their chiller and combine their fresh pumps with their chilled milk. Each new batch will be brought down to safe temperatures with the rest of it. If you would like to chill it first, then we sell two chillers at a discount - one to cool each batch and the other to pool it all together!

Can this be done with thawed milk?
@cereschill
@cereschill 2 жыл бұрын
If you have high lipase, it’s best to scald your milk shortly after it’s pumped to prevent the change in taste/smell. If it’s been frozen without being scalded, it’s likely that the change has already occurred but you can do a smell test once it’s thawed to check if it has a soapy scent! Most babies will still accept this milk and it’s completely safe for them, but some might refuse it.
