You can weld a wire coat hanger 25mm long. Mole grips on a slide hammer deal. Less heat in the panel welding on and removing. Works good.
@Doggymcdoggy6642 ай бұрын
Probably should have butt welded it. Moisture will get in the relief you made. Make sure you seal good from behind. Needs a good wax oil in all cavity’s and inside sills you put on. Good luck👍👍
@Boothsmotors2 ай бұрын
They do say having a joggled edge helps with the distortion though! On a panel like an mgb where there a big rib in the panel it could easily be butt welded! The only thing I’ve ever been told is don’t joggle the new behind the old you’ll leave a gulley for the water to sit in! But yeah don’t worry plenty of wax oil, and dinitrol kicking around the garage!

You should consider to buy a gas saver. These devices are quite effective with spot welding as you stop and start welding again and again.
@Boothsmotors4 ай бұрын
Ahh okay I’ll look into that I’m guessing it’ll go between the actuator inside the welder and the torch? And stop that sudden surge off gas when you first press the trigger? I set my gas to ‘4’ 🤷♂️ on the regulator as I was told to by one of my dads mates.. not a clue if that’s correct or not!😂
@volkerdorr85374 ай бұрын
@@Boothsmotors the gas saver is installed just behind the pressure regulator.. Without this the pressure between the regulator and the electric valve in the welder rises abruptly when the welding is stopped. pressing a quite amount of gas into tube. This gas releases as the weld is started next. For example in case you fill up a 1m tube, inner diameter 10 with 5 bar, this will be 390cc instead of 78ccat 1 bar for every time the trigger is pulled.

Enjoying your videos thanks for sharing with us. Over the years I've found that old under seal comes off without heating it and just use a good scrapper and it will leave no residue to clean off either. Best done in cold weather. That attachment on the heat gun is just to direct the hot air away from something you don't want to heat up, its definitely not a scrapper. Good luck with it all. 👍👍
