I'm a dancer and just wanted to learn to make an edm but so far every edm tutorial sucks because it never explains fundamentals at all. when i teach others to dance i start with fundamentals i don't tell them " Just do the robot and look cool while transitioning into a wave " this tutorial said " just add a tonal ambiance " umm excuse me but WTF is that ? This isn't a tutorial on how to make melodic dubstep . It's more of a " this is my recipe for what i think about when i make music " How is a day one noob supposed to know what a tonal ambience is ? I'm better off just playing it by ear and emulating what I've heard over the years .

That's unfortunate to hear, I will have to mention that most of the tutorials that I have is made and targeted for audiences with a general knowledge on how to use a digital audio workstation (DAW) and not so much for beginners, if it does become a request that most people will ask more then I will dedicate a whole beginners guide with the proper terms, words, and Jargons that we use to describe something in particular when it comes to composing and/or producing. I'm sorry for any of the confusion and if this video wasn't really the guide and tutorial you were expecting

Hopefully you have a trick to this question. But what makes you know where to put other chord type melodies over your piano? Not sure if that makes sense, but usually i just copy/paste my midi from one VST to another for all my layers. But yours are all different creating movement. How do you know what goes where, and how it will sound good? I feel trial and error with note selections with that many elements will take a life time to make them all fit together like a puzzle.

It does take a lot of trial and error, even sometimes failed attempts and scrapped ideas. If you hear the sound is doing something that stands out then I don't touch it, then when I start to use other layers as like for the tonality and supporting characteristics. I don't go and find similar sounds because it will end up sounding the exact some and clashing will happen, so once you know and understand your layers and what role they play when stacking them you will find your flow and that way get better in the whole arrangement. Hope this helps
