I am having issues with creating stuff in channel rack/piano roll. I come up with a sick beat that has 4-5 beats in it, but don't know how to save that as just "beats" and then start again for the melody. If someone could help me, that would be amazing. So, for example, I have beats saved in channel rack and now want to create the melody. Instead of giving me a new channel rack, I can still see the beats there so everything just keeps adding on

I see that your main issue comes from the patterns and placements. What you need to do is, everytime you are trying to make a new sequence in a pattern, press f4 to add a new empty pattern that you can use, the pattern that you've modified earlier will not be touched once you've created a new pattern. Once you're satisfied with what you've made, placing patterns in the playlist is as simple as switching from the "Pattern and Song" at the top left next to the play button and by pressing "P" and by left clicking somewhere in the playlist, you can place the patterns that you've made
