I'm ashamed to admit to only having heard the Perlman/Zuckerman version with the viola, although it certainly made due in it's brilliance, the verocity and spirit of this interpretation really sets my soul on fire. Bravo👏🏻

According to Proust, when a great composer discovers a theme in the musical universe that is hidden to the rest of us and reveals it to us, we the listeners carry it around with us as one of the “rich possessions wherewith our inner temple is diversified and adorned”. He then says, movingly: “We shall perish, but we have for our hostages these divine captives who shall follow and share our fate. And death in their company is something less bitter, less inglorious, perhaps even less certain.”

This is the best version I have seen. beats the Palman and Zukeman's. Though classical music,I think young performers often do better and more vivid than celebrities.

You know what's wrong with this piece? It's too damned long! After two minutes, the listener (at least in my estimation), rather than maintaining his astonishment, begins to weary of the effect. Miraculous playing, though.

The fact that she fell and how it makes our heart break while watching her fall, ironically makes this program so much more dramatic and epic. It somehow captures the tragic love of Romeo and Juliet so well . Til this day, I come back to watch this masterpiece.
