I just love Ailie! She is a brilliant teacher, I joined her Patreon and it’s such a joy to received her new tune each month with video lesson and sheet music. She is such a lovely and sweet person. Such a beautiful and thoughtful selection of tunes from traditional 18 c slow airs to her own compositions inspired by her walks at the beach near her home, or watching the snow fall, or a waltz composed for a friend. They are magical and bring the scene to life. Her Christmas selections are exquisite, there is something for everyone. I’ve learned so much from her, she doctorate shine through all she does. She is so accessible as well, hoping on a Facebook chat and organizing a music book club with a live discussion (recorded as well). It’s really an honor to be able to be a part of her patron, I’m so grateful and highly recommend.

Such a great idea, and the perfect name! A big hurdle for me has been finding three arrangements of the same song. I have found two arrangements of one song, I think I will go with that, rather than waste more time looking. Thanks again!

Yeah, it can be tough to find three harp arrangements of songs so starting with two is a great idea, have fun!! And let me know how you get on!!

The Harmony Course and the two projects was a great way to learn music theory and write a left hand arrangement for a tune! This sounds like fun. I have a folk tune in mind, but I have not heard any harp arrangements of it, so I must do a search.

I didn't know, I did interleave practice, but that's what I did all those years. The reason was, my eyes get blurry suddenly and I get stopped. So, I started to play different pieces, in different chunks at the same practice time. WAU, that is great to know, that is a GREAT way to practice 🥰
@HeatherDownieHarpist17 күн бұрын
Interesting! I started when I read the research papers on it but it took a while for it to feel normal. I love it now though and it really helps when I'm learning complex pieces. So glad it works for you too!

This was fascinating. Really looking forward to the workshop on Sunday! I find myself pondering about different types of memory as I experience different stages of learning a piece, it takes such a long time to get to the stage where it's easy and I could almost play it in my sleep, but when it does, it feels like it’s unlocked some special secure place in my head. Will love to learn about the science of this. The coordination of two parts (two hands) is also an incredibly interesting process… sometimes it feels like it will be impossible at the start of learning a piece, and when it eventually clicks, I have no idea how it happened, there’s something very mysterious about it for me. I studied physics with music at uni, which a lot of people find strange too, but I love the crossover of science and music. I did courses on musical acoustics, for me these were some of the most interesting subjects I’ve ever learned about. To know the science and the maths of how musical sound is produced in vibrating strings, drum skins or other instruments was completely mind-blowing.
