The Band drew us all in like a Spring Tide & put us on another beach, where the sand was fine as talcum & the sun turbed us berry brown. My, those times were great & listening to this rolls it all back again 😊🎉❤

If you want to know what soul music is all about, you don't need to collect Motown or old Atlantic records. You should watch this performance first.

Most comments are right on the money here and I particularly like how Lowell’s slide guitar is so soulful and Bill Payne’s keyboards just sound so right.

The difference between my youth and my decripitude, this song was a hit in my youth, it couldn't get recorded today. Too many Mary Sues would be offended .

Quite a few names come up when people discuss singing drummers, but it's pretty damn hard to hold a candle to Levon. RIP Levon and Robbie.

wow, Ronnie's slide sounds awesome. What a great way to entertain the crown and give The Band a breather before their encore. And that signature Niel Young stomp is a classic. Wish I'd seen him in concert. (I may have in Jacksonville AL in the 1970s with the Stills Young Band, but I don't have a visual memory of that show)

I am old enough to remember The Last Waltz. I also saw Ronnie Hawkins live in Toronto in 1980 with Alfie Zappacosta. The Band got their name because they were Ronnie Hawkins and the Band.

When expressing the longings all of us feel most deeply during our vulnerable youth, when we cannot understand why our feelings are not reciprocated, when we discover our hearts are broken and there is no one to tell, Ontario boy Rick Danko is chosen by The Band to convey their most deeply felt lyrics. He has company. Watch Neil Young during his Last Waltz performance, also from Ontario and the same age as Rick. Their eyes meet as Neil sings “Helpless.” People who are aware of Neil Young’s towering ego were caught off guard when their hero encountered a kindred spirit. That spirit has flown but we still see him in the Northern Lights.
