How did you get so many mines??? I have been trying the same thing but no matter what I do there are always a handful of survivors. I like to use trip mines where I am sure guys will be walking, like at choke points, like the bridge in front of the reactor building etc. I also throw TNT down next to mines where I think there will be more than one guy in the hope of getting them both (or more) with one blast.

@@music65617 I didn't "cheat" as there are no cheat codes for this game on PlayStation. But I did find out, kinda by accident that if/when you save the game and then load it and return to those supply boxes (I think there are 5 or 6 on this map?) they will keep giving you supplies over and over and over. I must have placed 100 mines! And BTW...I FINALLY was able to clear out the entire map of reinforcements without having to fire a shot- my mines got them all. It was cool!

Counter theory: Your sample is blocking all the low energy bremsstrahlung when you get close to it. Idk what you sample is encased in but it loks metalish, which would absorb the x rays. Maybe uf you use tungsten they will have more energy and penetrate further?

Very nice demo! You are not wrong: You are, in fact, correct! These are β- particles (electrons) being deflected and scattered by air (molecules) back into the G-M tube. I've done this with my 10 μCi C-14 source disc. You also pronounced "bremmstrahlung” correctly, too. Anyways, this phenomenon is called "skyshine." If you use elements with a heavier _Z_ number, like lead, the more atoms (electrons) it can interact with and deflect. Lead will give you much higher counts, than say, aluminum. This is a great demonstration of "skyshine," and I really enjoy this video! By the way, if you have an activated zinc sulfide screen, it will produce a faint glow. However, you have to get it _very_ close to the source, and the glow is significantly less luminous, compared to alpha radiation sources that are mostly used for this purpose, in which zinc sulfide is the "grandfather of all scintillators." Nonetheless, it will make it glow, in the near-to-pitch dark, that is, when your eyes have adjusted to said darkness. Try it out sometime, if you have an "alphascope/spinthariscope" (activated zinc sulfide) screen. Thank you for sharing this! It's really cool! ☢👍

Great info! Is the scintillation from carbon 14 on zinc sulfide stronger than that of Tritium?
@KarbineKyle
@KarbineKyle 7 ай бұрын
It depends on the energy of the β- particles, and of course, the activity. C-14 has a maximum β- energy of 156.6 keV, whilst H-3 has a maximum β- energy of 18.6 keV. The higher the energy, the brighter the scintillation. However, since H-3 is a gas, and the energies emitted are very low, more activity is required. You could theoretically use C-14 as a gas, such as C-14 dioxide, in place of H-3. The downside is that it would be costly to produce, and the NRC and IAEA would likely be against it, since C-14 is more energetic, and often in solid form, rather than gaseous H-3, increasing potential hazards. You could use both isotopes as a solid, however self-absorption increases and becomes a problem with β- emitters as energy decreases. This is why most H-3 vials contain millicuries of activity, compared to microcuries of activity with high-energy emitters, like Sr/Y-90, which was used in only a small number of self-luminous prototype items. C-14 was also used too, but also only in a few or so prototype items, such as self-luminous markers. These β- emitting self-luminous markers were made mostly for military and research purposes only. This is why α-emitters were used so much back then, since they emit energies much higher than most available β- emitters, being in the 5 MeV range, which is why less activity for that is required. The downside of this is that using higher-energies degrade the crystal structure of scintillators much faster than lower-energies. I hope this helps! ☢👍

Nope, roll film like this is not rewound when finished. You simply leave it on the takeup spool and remove it from the camera back, then swap the supply spool that you just emptied over to the takeup side.

Hi Orcinus, I recently found a box full of these huge GE capacitors and was wondering what could be done with them. I'm not sure what they came out of. Mine are somewhere around 50,000mf and 20 some volts. Cool video. Did you use a regular power supply to charge them? Also, you kept discharging them so I assume they were connected to a regular power supply set to 55V or something like that? Thx.

This song is great. I just watched this episode for the first time ever. I knew about the Kirk/Uhura kiss but what I didn't know was how everyone was being controlled against their will. The had no control of their bodies but were fully aware. That has to be terrifying. All of them being humiliated. If this episode was filmed during the later TNG seasons, this would be their "THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!" episode for Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and Chapple.

"Safe" is a relative term. You definitely don't want to be opening it up or anything, could wind up spreading radium dust around and that stuff is super nasty if it gets in your lungs (or anywhere else for that matter), but if it's just sitting on a shelf or in a display cabinet undisturbed, it'll be fine.
