"Safe" is a relative term. You definitely don't want to be opening it up or anything, could wind up spreading radium dust around and that stuff is super nasty if it gets in your lungs (or anywhere else for that matter), but if it's just sitting on a shelf or in a display cabinet undisturbed, it'll be fine.
