The hatred of paras is unwarranted. I find it an especially good pokemon for catching, with moves like spore. It's hard to use for anything else. But I've used a shiny Parasect on my team in Pokemon Gold.

Oh right, weird things about gen 1, no natures no abilities, no held items. The special defence stat doesn't exist, instead special is both attack and defense. Finally attacks are not individually special or physical, but are instead special or physical based on type. So hyper beam is a physical attack because its normal type. You can look up specifics, but fire water grass etc are special, normal fighting, ghost etc are physical

Its going to take me a second to catch up, but i wonder if you took on the optional rival fight west of viridian city. If you've already beat Brock, sadly its too late to take him on. But fun fact what your rival evolves their eevee into is based on whether you win the first fight and take on the optional fight

There is actually a working chat function, you just have to bind it to a button in the controller settings, or you can also just use your keyboard as normal. Another really cool thing is the 'Legacy Skins' mod which when combined with the Legacy 4J mod gives you a functioning 'Change skin' menu. People have been making resource packs to add in their very own custom skin packs or even a majority of the old official ones such as the Battle and Beasts skin pack.
