Like it or not the west as a whole was built off of Christian ideals, and therefore there is precedent for the 10 commandments being up. because they are a framework that the west and therefore the United States was built on. As john Adams said the constitution "was made only for a moral and religious people" from the fact the 10 commandments are the backbone of our system and the position of at least one of the founding fathers there 100% president for the 10 commandments being up in schools.

This is so peculiar. Our laws are based upon Roman civil law and English common law. Only the latter of which could be considered to have any influence from the Ten Commandments. I could certainly understand putting the Golden Rule up, as that transcends cultures and religions, but the Ten Commandments is a strange choice.

The thing about phones in schools is I think they’re fine I just also think we need a better education system so kids will be willing to listen more. Even with my phone being a hindrance to me, I managed to go through highschool just fine. I stumbled a bit but at least I wasn’t an imbecile like a handful of folks in my classes who literally couldn’t write an essay to save their own lives. Phones aren’t failing our kids. Schools are. And also the kids themselves. Some people are destined to poison the gene pool.

See, I'm not expressly against the idea of some kind of mandated service...I'm just not okay with the idea if it's only the military, or if the military is the primary avenue. Not only because that would definitely create some negative incentives for those in power, but it would lead to a homogeneity of ideas, thinking and attitudes. If mandatory service was implemented, it would have to come in a variety of options and forms; the military, working with the poor and homeless, environmental care and cleanup, infrastructure projects, community services like fire and EMS etc.

The funny thing is other things are authorized but not required.... things less American, like the Declaration of Independence, or the Mayflower Compact.

Interesting it’s okay if you’re being indoctrinated in school as long as it’s the ‘correct’ religion… got it.
