ALSO if you watching with this tut in 2024 using a new version of houdini the file cache part you will need to change it too FILE PATH EXPLICIT to get the way he is doing it without it the simulation will keep going but with changing that one area it will make it work

All settings are correct and the viscosity values are from 1 to 100,000, but the viscosity is all constant in the simulation. Do you know anything about this phenomenon?

under the "volume source" or "pop source" so the last input of your flip solver I think

Such a helpful tutorial for me! I have laid the groundwork with basic programming, mathematics, and graphics fundamentals, and now feels like the perfect time to start learning Houdini and VFX anew. Aspiring to be a real technical artist, I find the subscription price to be quite reasonable!

This is a great tutorial and I learned a lot form this! However, I have one problem where particles get "stuck" or otherwise pool up on certain concave areas (ie. the upper lip of a face) and refuse to flow downward to cover the areas below it. I tried to find a solution to this such as reseeding to spread out the individual particles but I still get awkward empty spaces in some areas. Perhaps it's the model I'm using? I was hoping for a method which would encompass the whole model regardless of concavity/convexity of the model. Any tips on how I could fix this?
@DoxiaStudio8 ай бұрын
it always depend on the model. it can have hard edges that will prevent the fluid to move. One way I used was adding small volumes to force the liquid movement. just adding velocity or a force to move the liquid to the desire spot.
@ToyokaX8 ай бұрын
@@DoxiaStudio wow, I didn't expect an answer so thank you so much! I'll try adding some volumes to the problem areas to get the liquid to move there. I appreciate the help!

In the tutorial the particles grow like crazy in a sphere shaped manner, in the references it looks more organic, how to control that?

Thanks for this one!

Actually in the particlefluidsurface you have a section "Output", where you can change from mesh to points, and then you can use a cache to cache the particles

thanks you so much for this tutorial, I was just wondering if on some point you were playing with the viscosity, and surface tentions to achieve this clean render? also i believe that size matter in therm of particules? what size is your statue ?

Hi, for some reason the Vellum Source doesn't have "emission type: continuous anymore", I instead used "instanced on points", which works but is less efficient, since they all spawn on frame 1. Any idea how to get the same emission every Nth frame in 2023?

@DoxiaStudio10 ай бұрын
on Retrieve store you have the tutorials with subtitles and voice overs. On Patreon e have access to premium tutorials with the lowest tier. with 10+$ tier you have access to project files. On youtube you have the free tutorials only.

Some artists are exploring that. you can find some stylized fire on youtube. I guess if you create a pyro sim, and then cut the volume to see only a slice you might get a similar look

@DoxiaStudio11 ай бұрын
Hello! I've explained this on Patreon. I've been working outside the 3D realm for the past couple of months. I got a bit depressed after working in that industry for so long. Now I'm learning and enjoying 2d VFX. Will keep on working on VFX, but mainly 2D now. Of course, sometimes, for game vfx, I will get back to Houdini, but not as much as before.

Hey ! Amazing tutorial , i have another question, do you know how to make the cloth still in his position, and otherwise make the character go trough it ? Like, literally the same animation but in reverse, the characater moving, not the cloth. Is there any way to make the cloth not move at all , just being atached on his position ?

great. I am trying to increase the viscosity overtime, right now i keyframed the minviscosity value but this does not work. How can I increase the viscosity over time without using age?
@DoxiaStudio10 ай бұрын
sometimes, during simulations, there is an option that only sets the parameters on the first frame. If you want to animate viscosity, you might need to set the option to compute every frame. I think liquids were one of those. I can try to check this out if you still need help.
