Although the definition of what 'macro-evolution' constitutes might differ, in case we would define it as a particular 'kind' of animals developing to another 'kind', such as a sea animal becoming a land animal or a land animal becoming able to fly (developing wings), shouldn't this be classified as a case of micro-evolution? I mean although the birds developed different beaks they're still birds. It's not like it's an example of a land animal developing wings. I would like to see examples of this.
@DrWendi
@DrWendi 26 күн бұрын
good question, I believe the major difference is that microevolution involves changes in genes in a population of organisms that are the same species, and macroevolution involves changes that involve the creation of new species. So even though the birds have different beaks, seems like a small change, if they are a different species then it is macroevolution. :)

@DrWendi Okay, well first of all thank you first your quick and kind response. However, then the whole definition of 'macro-evolution' kind of misses its point, as I believe this distinction (between 'micro' and 'macro'-evolution) was called in to differentiate between 'within-kind' evolution and evolution from one 'kind' (i.e., let's say sea animals) to another '(let's say land mammals). This is I believe what would be crucial for evolution theory to prove, I believe even Darwin himself stated that such evidence is key for his whole theory, as it presumes large scale evolution of that kind to have taken place on earth. 'Within-kind' evolution could just as well fit in another theory which for example would posit that species were placed on earth by other living creatures (from the universe) or even God (I'm only saying 'even' because I think it's discredited in the scientific community as a possibility even though I think it's everything but strange to view creation or intelligent design as a possibility). To be fair, I think that based upon the fossil record a more solid case could be made for - only - within-kind evolution having occurred on earth rather than from one kind to another.
@thomasdaquino2542
@thomasdaquino2542 26 күн бұрын
If finches developing somewhat different beaks is the best evidence for evolution then I think we got a lot of work to do. I mean, we are to convince people that one-celled organisms developed into whales, humans, giraffes, and what not more. We need evidence of species without feet to have developed feet and animals without wings to have developed wings. Currently, I am still working hard on this, but acquiring the right evidence seems difficult. We appear to find only 'functioning' animals in our fossil record, such as (clearly) land-based dinosaurs or sea-dwelling creatures. I do not think that a theory which leaves some door open for some kind of 'miraculous' appearance of species here on earth is by definition far-fetched. And I'm even leaving out the extent to which biology can explain how single cell organisms, ultimately were able to develop feet, wings, or other types of characteristics totally out-of-line with their (evolutionary) character. We find changes in - existent - capabilities, such as a higher immunity in certain fields, but no actual evidence of these organisms being capable to develop characteristics totally outside of what they by nature reproduce to. Particular fishes going blind for example rather than an example of evolution is an example of them losing out on capabilities.

I agree, lots of work to be done in this area for sure, very difficuilt to prove what has happened over billions of years when humans have only been here and had the ability to do scientific experiments for a few hundred, a fraction of a percent of the time earth has been around.

@@DrWendi Thanks Wendi, personally, to be honest, I have my doubts regarding the evolution theory, exactly because the most crucial evidence for it (evolution from one kind to another) seems circumstantial at best. I believe we have no solid evidence of organisms without wings developing them or organisms without feet developing them. I also do not believe that our knowledge regarding reproduction even allows for such developments to take place, with it clearly showing limits in terms of what organisms can reproduce (we expect microbes for example to do nothing more than reproduce into microbes, whatever specific characteristics they would have). Although I consider life on earth mysterious/miraculous as well, I think that the best case can be made for a scenario whereby organisms after their kind were placed upon / appeared upon earth, for whatever reason (although I personally believe in creation). Even the best so-called 'missing link' between whales and land animals is a clear land animal with feet (Pakicetus), not anything in between by any reasonable measure. One could make a case for it being an 'in-between' animal but insofar that would be factual or scientific in my view can be doubted. It in my view only shows the limited nature of actual evidence for evolution from 'one kind' to another.

I don’t know if I have an autoimmune disorder but I guarantee I do, it’s hard to see a Rheumatologist six months out, I swell up in the hand and ankles and sore muscles in my legs and then it goes away and I develop red dots over my legs after the swelling goes away.

It is hard to know from little information, how long do the swelling episodes last? The red dots after swelling sounds like petechiae, you might want to go to a doctor and have them rule out antiphospholipid syndrome.

Question: >>> Do we digest/transform fibers into sugars? - I understood that fibers are actually also considered carbs. - But we don't digest fibers, right!? So if we want to help someone to go low carb, to lower blood-sugar and insuline... Could we use lower carb (=higher fibers) bread??? (Since my old stubborn mother doesn't want to stop eating bread...)
@DrWendi
@DrWendi Ай бұрын
Great question. Yes, fiber is a type of carb but we generally can't digest them and don't make sugars from them. Our intestinal bacteria (microbiome) organisms do digest fiber though, they love to eat fiber (why fiber is considered a prebiotic because it feeds our good bacteria) and they turn fiber into short chain fatty acids. Those fatty acids then enter our bloodstream and our brain uses them for fuel. If you want to help someon go low carb, they just need to decrease the starches (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice) and sugars. Eating meat and high fiber vegetables is great for lowering blood sugar and insulin resistance. If stubborn mom doesn't want to eliminate bread, then it would be best if it was a whole grain, high fiber bread and not white bread. And then also best to have that bread with protein and healthy fats, like eggs or but butter or avocado and cheese. And then also, it would help reduce insulin response if the bread meal/ snack was consumed within an hour or so of some kind of moderate exercise. Lastly, there is a supplement called berberine that can help regulate blood sugar and insulin if taken right after a meal high in starch or sugar. Also, look up low glycemic index foods, you can find a whole list of healthy things to give you more ideas for meals and snacks. Good luck :)

@@DrWendi Thanks for your responce! ♥ I tested Low Carb bread yesterday at around 20:00. 2 slices=85grams. (Added to my Carne diet earlier yesterday, 2 chicken legs=around 110grams of protein. No fat added.) And I still lost weight, actually more than the previous days. 1KG ! I lost 3.3kg in 5 days now. While also testing/drinking Zero Sugar & Zero Caffeine Cola, and sugarfree energy drinks sometimes. Doesn't seem to spike my blood-sugar and insuline levels. I put some roomkaas/SoftCheese with a sweetener on top of one slice of bread, to see if I can simulate a sweet jam for mum ^_^ I'm surprised how well it came out...

Yesterday itself I listened to a video on autophagy and learnt that minimum of 24-48 hours of fasting is required to initiate the cleaning process
@DrWendi
@DrWendi 3 ай бұрын
yes, that is true. I also believe that 16 hour daily fasts are like surface cleaning, its like doing the dishes and sweeping the floor. Someone that is healthy and has no symptoms can get by with 16 hour fasts, someone with cancer or autoimmune condition needs to fast longer. If you want to dig into the attic and basement then you need to do longer fasts. It all depends on need. The sicker you are, the more you need to fast. Animals do this naturally. If you are sick and have no appetitie, that is a good thing, your body knows what it needs.
