did you find any of the plastic pieces that were broken off in the motor? great video

Yeah, I made sure I got those out. Why they didn't make these parts out of metal is just stupid.

Not sure if this is my fix? My kawasaki FS65V1 gets hot, and the throttle lever backs off losing RPMS....constantly pushing throttle up....any ideas or thoughts would be welcomed! Thanks
@battalion151R8 ай бұрын
That sounds more like a friction issue with the throttle lever. I'm assuming it's very easy to move it from idle to full throttle. You might be able to "tighten" it back up by crushing the rivet with a C-clamp as a stop-gap. It sounds like the lever assembly is just worn out. It may be time for a new one.

@battalion151R ...appreciate the response... it is firm in movement...but why does work fine then after 30ish minutes go to de-throttling on its on??
@battalion151R8 ай бұрын
@detaronrockydoo6957 I'm stumped on that one. Look at the carb linkage and squeeze those tabs a bit tighter. As the engine heats up, it may expand the clearance on the plate, allowing for a little less friction. Just my 50 cents worth (adjusted for inflation from 2 cents worth).

Thanks! I went over to check out your channel and subscribed. How many watts is your solar array? I'd love to start doing something. Right now I have a dinky little 53 watt panel with a 40 amp charge controller. most of the time I use the panel as a remote battery charger. Hook up to a dead battery in a car or mower, let it cook for a while and fire things up. The charge controller is on my workbench.

Thank you for posting this. pretty sure this just happened to my FH721v. Don't let the shit poster get to you about the oil. He has never posted anything and you've helped thousands with this video!

Thank you. Hopefully, you didn't make the same mistake I did with the crank when I pulled it out enough to remove those plastic tits I dropped the cam followers. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. As to the oil, the previous owner of the property had "lubed" this area of the barn quite well, so I was never worried about dribbling a little more.

Are you using the stainless steel pins? I bought some and used them. but I ran a batch without them and the brass came out fine. Oh! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BRASS IN THE WET TUMBLER OVERNIGHT. Unless you want green ammo. Lastly, use a very small amount of Lemishine. A pinch.
@brokespoke5424 Жыл бұрын
@@battalion151R I will try without pins next time around. I'm using a dishwasher cleaning solution. I saw a comparison between it and lemi shine and it seemed a little better and the store across the street stocks it.
@battalion151R Жыл бұрын
@brokespoke5424 One container of Lemishine should last you for years. And I go through a good bit of brass. If the dishwasher stuff has citric acid in it, that's the same as Lemishine.

I was just reading the first message. I'm assuming that you watched the first one, and hear me talking about the over revving, with no throttle response. I finally found my oil leak. I replaced the top seal, a while back, because it was leaking. The new one evidently leaked too. I replaced it again, and no leaks. Woohoo.
@ericstyer28903 жыл бұрын
So I’ve got a 721 tore down for a rebuild, I have not taken out the cam but I did remove the pushrods for piston access. What’s the symptom of the governor going out? Uncontrolled overrev? I understand there is a decompression release armature on back of cam gear but since I’m really just trying to replace top end I don’t think I need to go in that deep unless I’m mistaken. What prompted my repair was oil leak but not the governor seal, Best we can tell it’s the PCV getting clogged issue. Have replaced the PCV gasket for updated style, am hoping that ceased higher than normal crankcase pressures and new gaskets will seal the deal. Top end is getting swapped just cause I’m already here and blow by could be cause of my issue as well.
@battalion151R Жыл бұрын
Eric, My bad! I never answered you. The symptoms are the engine overrevs like crazy. Once you tear into it, you'll see the plastic retainer is probably in pieces allowing the balls to fall out of the governor. The repair wasn't as bad as I thought. But, I had to get much more familiar with the engine, since I dropped the cam followers into the engine. You don't have to do a valve job, just have to reassemble the valve train and readjust the valves. Mine's still running. Well, once you get it started. A small spritz of starting fluid works wonders.

Just started having the same problem on Kawasaki Fr691v Toro. It’s over revving high I did have an oil leak by the governor shaft seal and replaced it but it’s still revving to high.. thanks for the video 👍🏼 I think I’m going to check the internal for a broken governor then
@battalion151R3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I hated to pull the engine and tear it down, but that was the answer. I finally fixed my oil leak, that was making me fry belts. I had replaced the top seal, but evidently that one was bad. It lasted less than 20 hours. Good luck on the governor.

I've found, after 50+ years, of working on motorcycles, cars, trucks, tractors, mowers and a little bit of everything else, that it's far easier to drain the crankcase oil into a pan/bucket/container, than to have to get it up off the floor. Christ, what a mess.
@battalion151R4 жыл бұрын
I did drain the oil into a pan. Most of what's on the floor, has been there for a long time, and it actuallylook pretty good now. I stored sawdust in that bay, and it sucked most of the oil out of the concrete. The guy I bought this place from, had a mower shop and drained oil everywhere. If my double decker garage ever burns down, they'd accuse me of arson, with all the accelerant in the wood. The wooden floor is soaked.

@battalion151R4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Yeah, it's easy enough to make that mistake. That's why I left my missteps in the video. So, your cam followers dropped out. I'm trying to remember what I did. First, go ahead and pull the cam out, and collect the followers. The pushrods may fall through too. Take your valve covers off, pull the pushrods out. Rotate the engine, so gravity is working for you. Put the followers back in position. I was fortunate enough, that my timing marks, were aligned, when I pulled the cam. If yours are off, you'll have to rotate the crank, bringing the pistons to top dead center. Align your marks, and slide the cam back in place. Go ahead, and replace your governor, and put the oil pan, or lower crankcase back on. Once you have that on, you can go back to the valves. Loosen the valve adjusters, and back the adjuster screws out. You can put the pushrods back in, and take the slack up with the adjusters. Look up what the valve lash is. I forget, and don't want to give you the wrong info. Then adjust the valves. You should be back in business.

Al- I did the same thing. The little nubs were broken off of the plastic governor plate that holds the steel balls, and When I was trying to get the second snap ring off to remove it, I pulled the cam out a little and heard parts start falling (the followers or tappets or whatever). Can you explain how to get them back in.....i think you said remove the pushrods which would mean a valve job at least I think. Thanks in advance for your help. -John (great videos by the way, very helpful)

I have a zero turn in my shop with this engine. It was surging and RPMs go too high when you throttle up. It runs fine if you keep the throttle about midway. Does this sound like the governor is bad like in your video? If the governor is bad wouldn’t it race at high RPM at any throttle level?
@battalion151R4 жыл бұрын
Mine did a few weird things, before it went completely. First check, to make sure your linkage, didn't vibrate loose. I left some of my mistakes, in the videos, so hopefully, others wouldn't repeat them. On a different subject; Do you have any oil leaks? I'm still chasing mine. I've replaced the upper seal, breather gasket, and still have oil coming from somewhere. I could live with a small leak, but my belts get soaked, and burn up. Thanks for watching

Thanks Garden Fork. Sorry, I haven't looked at this, and didn't realize I had a comment. A friend of mine, has an interesting contraption. He has a barrel a with a small pump attached. The volume doesn't make much difference, but his develops around 60 psi. He dumps his sap, into the barrel, the pump boosts the pressure, and runs the sap, through a reverse osmosis filter. The pure filtered water, he just dumps. The "dirty water", gets recycled into the barrel. He can remove, around 75%, of the water, from the sap. Then he boils it down. Big time saver.

Extremely nice replication! Many need a heater. But not glowing hot on the outside. Think I'll throw in some layers of random bricks to add thermal mass/retain more heat.
@battalion151R9 жыл бұрын
OgMandin0 Thanks Og. Sorry, I hadn't checked back on my one and only post. I had thought the same thing, but when it's c c cc c cold out, I want HEAT. NOW! The first 20 minutes, of operation, finds me in a close orbit of the heater. Funny, how I used to be more cold tolerant, when I was 30. I do like the idea, of retention, and the slow release, once things get warm. I may try that more, next winter. I also, have a solar aspect, in the works. Oil Burner has an electric fuel pump, on one of his heaters. He has it regulated, with a timer, that he can adjust. Once he gets his heat set, it just keeps going. Mine's a bit more primitive. Being a gravity unit, as it uses oil, from the reservoir, it loses a bit of head pressure. The heater, slowly starts to cool, and you have to occasionally tweek it. I suspect, that burning waste oil, I also have different weights of oil, which effect the flow. If I had a huge mixing tank, I could mix everything together for a more homogenous fuel.

Al Henning I live in NW SC. 50 years ago my dad ran out of money. Bought some wooded land and moved a condemned house wall by wall to the site. Got it back together and put in a wood stove. My job was to carry firewood every day Fall-Spring. =It used that much wood. Recall those COLD mornings, well. Nearly got inside the stove to get warm. But when it got up to temperature it nearly ran us out.
@davidmoore6578 жыл бұрын
If you want to add thermal mass do it on the outside of the stove. If added to the inside it would block heat transfer to the area you are trying to heat and much of the heat stored would go out the flue.

HAHAHAH! 10 Bux! Awesome! That's great. That's a good size shed your heating up there and your certainly not in the warmest place so good to see it's working so well. The other interesting thing is that you are firing the air directly down. Last time I tried that I couldn't get it to work so I'll have to have another go and see if I can do better this time. I was also thingint of capping the end of the pipe and drilling some holes around it radialy. Not sure what the benifit would be, just something to try and see. Great vid mate. Glad to see this Idea put to practical application and working at keeping someone warm.

Oil Burner Glad you liked it. I have been tinkering with the burner, itself, and found that it needs to be placed properly, for the best burn. I took the small bung plug out, so I could see the burner, then with a 1/2' pipe, wiggled it around, until I got the best flame pattern. And, the best heat output. I also tried a different burner, but found it didn't work as well. It was the top of a small Freon tank. I left the handles on, and welded the valve shut. I think it was too shallow. Thanks again, for the inspiration!
