He’s definitely the the very model of the MODERN major general.

Not true. You would know that if you watched the whole thing lol

@@pghsavoyards ok, now i watched the whole thing, not the fastest but also not so bad, although just singing one little part with speed doesn't mean he has the ability to sing the full song the same way, but it was fun to see the ending

As a G&S fan I've heard this patter hundreds of times and hundreds of interpretations and this is definitely in the top rankings. His elocution and mannerisms completely embrace Major-General Stanley and his performance surprised me with delight. Very, very well done Mr. Mosley and congratulations to the stunning cast as well.

The true Englishman was right there in front of us for many years, yet Mr Deadeye had been nothing more but a seaman that was just doing his job but instead of the rest of the operas treating deadeye like utter scum he finally got what he deserved so to then I say Thank you for this particular opera giving deadeye a proper ending

Good job on the second verse. That verse is often cut or significantly altered. It's full of references that hardly anyone today would get.

The internet is something else. I get interested in opera. I look it up online. The next thing you know, I'm grooving out to a clip from a Pittsburgh theater company's production of Pirates of Penzance. And it's good!

Great ensemble singing. But WHYYYY is G&S doomed forever to have its spoken lyrics grotesquely over-pronounced (one random example: "I am much DEEE-STRESSSED to see your lordship in this CON-DI-SHUNNN"... ) while its sung words are so often swallowed. FFS folks, just speak the dialogue as you would, say, Bernard Shaw or even Oscar Wilde.... You're entertaining an audience, not carrying out a sound check on a very old radio system.

The gimmick where one of the major general's daughter says 'orange' is a delightful addition. If the English language evolves, hopefully it will spare "orange" from any rhyming words.

That was truly entertaining. I can’t imagine how much time is involved in getting those verses all memorized and sung at that pace. The lead singer is fantastic in my opinion and the overall performance was terrific. Well done by all.👍👍🇨🇦
