Man, I love how you’re doing that rear quarter rather than sticking some silly flares on it hand modified is the best rather than slapping some fiberglass crap on. I don’t know if anybody has ever talked to you about when you get “oil canning“ which is what you described when you were welding those two AC block off plates and, you get it done and you grind down your welds you heat it with an oxy acetylene torch and you can either blow air from an air nozzle or if it’s really oil canned you know popping in and out quench it with a damp rag, not really wet. You can sometimes get away with a propane burner if you use the propane burner method, you heat up a piece about the size of a silver dollar or red hot put a dolly on one side of the hammer on the other and smack it and then rag that is barely barely damp put over it after you let it cool on its own, my brother 66 fastback rear tail light panel had horrible oil canning on both sides of the neck and I use that method on it and it was perfect. We didn’t have to do anything else to it. Love the car. Take care, brother.

LOL, this is almost exactly where the guy you said who did the nicest body swaps stopped his body swap on a similar build too. So that is telling me that there is something pretty serious going on with that cowl windshield fitment or something. Funny thing is neither of you thought about taking anything from the middle or toward the bottom of the firewall section out and leaving the top part alone so it would allow the dash to fit and the windshield. Anyway I hope I am wrong and even if I am right you still did one hell of a good job on modifying that car so keep giving it hell and do what ever it takes including having a custom windshield made if needs be.
@themustangfactory3 ай бұрын
@JustATakit thanks for the input! So a little context. I ended up with a coyote swap I couldn't sell and I have everything to build a gen 2 swap. This made me think what would be best. So I decided to build this car mainly to sell and get my money out of some parts I had laying around. The body panels on this car are from the 70 donor. I have the cowl pretty much finished on the 70 and the windshield fits great. I assure you the 70 is getting finished after this car. I'm not rich and buy and sell for a living so I have to make it all work some how money wise. After doing that body swap and building this car, I don't doubt I could do it better the next time around. However I think I have a bead on another 69 mach 1 from a buddy of mine. If I'm able to get it I'll be building a custom chassis for it and avoiding the body swap all around. This 70 was my first time doing anything this crazy, it's turned out pretty decent for my experience imo. But definitely a couple things i wish I had done differently. A full for plan and firewall swap would have been better I just didn't have the know how when I started that project. Thanks for watching And stay tuned for the 70 videos to roll out soon. Just trying to finish this one and get it sold
