@@ragnos28 Nice. In my game only the Xenon in ZYA territory made some progress. All other Xenon starting points were contained by other factions. I wish the crisis in 7.0 beta was about pumping up the aggressiveness of the Xenon and Khaak, not the magical space spawning ships we got now.

@@clonetrooper6898 I'm a xenon "farmer". In their core sectors, I engage their forces, but I leave their infrastructure intact. I wait for their forces to recover and return for my combat fun. Also, I rarely use defence stations to "plug" xenon sectors, I rely on fleets in strategic locations instead. That way, xenon chaos in CW fleets is just fleet movement away. But it also depends on the start "seeds", I have a good one. 😉

@@ragnos28 Me too. I made my bases in Heretic's End, Watchful Gaze and Wretched Skies X to farm Xenon and mining. I leave the rest of the Xenon forces in peace. The Xenon in ZYA space pushed into Hativak's Choice and build some stations there but they still can't fully control it. I saw they once brought 1 I, 2 Ks and how many more smaller ships into Hativak's Choice but they still could not pushed the Argon out for some reasons. For a life-threatening AI in the lore the Xenon are kinda pushovers :)

@@clonetrooper6898 In truth, factions are rather helpless against the xenon, w/o player intervention. I recently saw a single xenon K killing 8 Phoenix E, 1 Condor and aux ship and escorts, simply because destroyers are "wired" not to "look up", and if the xenon K is above, it just pick them up one by one. But what eventually happen with xenon invasions, is that they encounter some station with plasma turrets and get blown up. I suspect that ZYA get their arses handled to them by the xenon because they lack the resources to "turret up" their stations. 🤔 As for my xenon, these are the "crops": kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2HaiKKVfKqWnpY 😁

Indeed, the vast majority of M ships are kamikaze forces, for when nothing else is available to deal with hostile capitals. That is all they are good for.😐

Would be nice if they could boost their WASD controls and force the AI to use them to avoid collisions. I know they are supposed to feel heavy but it is annoying that they allways point their nose away from the target to avoid collisions thus causing even worse collisions leading to half the fleet becoming unable to use their main weapons.

They are hopeless, just a few minutes ago, I've ordered a wing of 10 Behemoths to attack a construction site, and again they bundle up. 😐 There is no escape from having to make a separate fleet with them and order only the leader to attack.🙁

I'm just cleaning up some xenon sectors with with 6 terran destroyers and 1 terran bs, what that bs is doing is pure madness. It's been 2 years since i played this, ai still sucks completely. In fleet absolutely nothing works any good to attack a station, it all turns into a freaking comedy, normal attack, bombong for commander, that attack where they sync first, it's all trash.

@@ragnos28 thank you so much for this. I just wish I read your reply before I crushed 6 xenon sectors by manually assigning paths to every single ship to surround the station and attack it lol. Well I didn't kill the xenon, I just kind of wrecked them so they calm down a bit for some time, so this for sure will come very handy for future. I did get nuts at some point and sold asgard, after watching it struggle to hit the damn station with a beam and just shooting over it or under it whole time. Then I downloaded cruisers mod because Okahamas were also starting to drive me nuts, even by manually setting them to get on a specific position and then attacking 1-2 still commited suicide from some reason during cleaning operation. So I basically switched to some smal cruisers/destroyers from that mod as main workhorse for station destruction mixed with syns. my first intention was to use like 4-5 assgards and have them covered while they destroy stations, but I just don't have patience looking at them trying to get to position to where they want for half an hour and then missing their shots on station. thank god you figured this thing out with this formation or I would probably keep sticking to doing it manually for each ship, so I really apreciate this! :)

@@doublegi2880 Glad you managed to duplicate it. What I like the most about my tactic is that I can use the "mighty" Behemoths to do station demolition, while other players make wings of 15-20 Asgards for that purpose and still struggle. 🤭

they say improved, but how do they test, because we the masses are now testing, improving this AI would take work from the ground up. which they dont do. and theres no way they have enough staff to test it properly.

Meh, we can rest assured, ships that have 10km range weapons (destroyers) still behave like torpedo dive bombers in WW2, yay them I suppose...😕 I think this "AI" is here to stay, we might as well come to term with this fact...I will forever trust destroyer under AI control as far as I can throw them. 🤤

Not really. It increased the ordonance consumption of S torpedo bombers and made almost all carriers not usable because the bug of fighters getting caught in the carrier texture is back with a vengence. Atm, I can only use the Raptor, because fighters get stuck less often, because of the way they land, on top of the carrier.😐

Laser towers are the new meta, almost as effective as a fighter yet costing a fraction with the only down side being they dont move. Amazing for gate camping. Just waiting for egosoft to make them cost 20 million each when they see this video lol.

No, according to lore, these are the original terraforming ships, back from they were terran, hence the paint and markings.🤓 Also, the xenon H apparently looks like M1 from X: Beyond the Frontier from 1999, really old shool. 😎

Heys! Do you happen to use Defense drones for the H? The main idea behind it is that it's a drone carrier that can rapid deploy and retreive drones. The side-mounted drone bays on it can mass deploy, but also mass retreive drones (although, not regular S ships).

I have a proposition for you. If you hate fps, get a raptor with nothing but bolt turrets, with a 100 pulsars with nothing but neutron gatlings. Park them on top of something you dont like and watch your gpu melt. I got a pretty beefy pc and it was funny watching it crumble under all the dakka unleashed on some unfortunate xenons. If you want to be all in, a couple dragons with the same setup can get you even lower on frames. Idk about missiles but i think the approximately 2 million bolt projectiles are way worse than the explosions

@@ragnos28 i dont play the beta but i have an issue with docking too. Mainly M ships. They just float above the docking bay for ungodly amounts of time. I ordered my personal craft to dock at my location, and it quite literally just floated above the dock for 8 minutes straight. It was aligned and everything, carrier completely still. It just refused to go down. S ships work completely fine for me. But its mildly annoying having to go oos for a ship to dock. But on the lag fleet. I have a ryzen 5 5600x with 16gb ddr4 and an rx6600. Game runs as smoothly as x4 can. But when that fleet opens up on something, its a slideshow. It doesnt serve any purpose other than being hella funny

@@ragnos28 if the beta breaks saves i might skip on it for a while. But if it doesnt, im definitely skipping on it. You see i didnt had any resistance from xenon so i dropped in a few xenon enchancement mods. And its amazing. First load i had 23 xenon destroyers with a couple hundred cannon fodder jump out of the getsu fune gate. I never enjoyed fleet combat that much before. It was a destroyer carry actually xd. But what can i say syn is perfectly balanced, as all things should be. But i had an opportunity to try out different fighters at least. The torp irukandjies literally blew themselves up bc stupid ai likes to hang out near torps. But man, the gladius+kalis combo didnt care at all. They just went in, killed every single fighter, lost only 14, didnt elaborate further and docked back onto the carrier. Makos just blew up for me, and i had a few eclipses and balaurs wich all blew up. Out of the 5 mambas i made for some reason all of them somehow survived. Ik some ppl say the shih is the best fighter but i cant get over how disgusting it looks. But yeah after all this long rant, i think gladius is probably the best true frontline fighter, and kalis is a good alternative if you prefer tank over dps

@@kermitthefrog1176 He he "i cant get over how disgusting it looks" 😁 I get you...I ditch the entire DLC because of how disgusting most of the ships look. 😅 As for save breaking, you know how beta works, even the password is Ibackupmysaves. 😋 From all the betas I was in, don't rememeber with which versions I started, going from them to the full update release went well, w/o having to revert to pre beta saves. But for this one, I would say...stay away for a bit, even wait for the full 7.0, because atm, the devs break for me the usage or carriers, because figters and M ships get stuck in their external texture (with the workaround of having to port away, to have them land). If you don't use carriers that much, might not be a biggy for you. Also, well that is a change, I don't think is a bug...because of the smoke and fire effect, the destroyed capital ships have a delay were a wreck takes a while to blow up, S bombers see it as a valid target, and fire entire salvos at the wreck, and by doing so, drastically increase the torpedo consumtion, to the point that only BMs became a valid option for S bombers. On this last one, you might avoid it if you avoid the beta, but will come to bite you in your rear, when 7.0 will drop. 😋

I have a feeling that Dragon raider with 6x beams will behave better than Xenon B, not to mention player ought to capture first... I mean devs gave us a choice of wasting time on something what is crap in the end. Not yet run the beta, but all I watch, all new ship stats... meh.

You can have a bit of fun with the B in zapping some flies, I end up putting purple shield regen mode, so even if the shield is shit, you can try to run away and have it back. And with the H you can engage some swarms with the drones, that now in beta 3, can be recovered from the lateral slots, and that's about it. 😐

​@@ragnos28 Aren't something like Monitor aux with 100 drones and flaks will behave approximately same? Also by pure stats (any pitfalls didn't take into account): Plasma cutter burst output - 243MW, Beam MK2 - 157. 4x P.C. = 972, 6x Beam emitters = 918. Damage difference is quite minor.

​@@Army_of_Earth I'm pretty sure the change was introduced, following the fact that players (myself included) notified the devs that the "drone carrier" could not retrive drones in a timely manner. 🤔 Either way, is a beta change, so prior, I suspect that aux ships did not deploy or recover drones in that manner.

No problem, by the grace of the "time machine", a.k.a previous save, all is well with the brave crews that went against the K. 😋 Such a shame tho, against S/M ships, the H with the drones is sufficient, does not need a fleet, and with a fleet can't kill capitals.🤔 In that regard the xenon L is inferior to our destroyers, because those can kill xenon capitals, under player control.

Seems to me that what really messed up their approach was trying to go straight up Egosoft definitely needs to improve their range keeping ai in that regard, either that, or make it so when the try to get on the same level as the target, they don't point directly at the target when trying to get on the same Y level but rather manuever in a sort of L shape, moving directly up to a waypoint a safe distance away from the target but on the same level, and then approaching

@@ragnos28 funny enough Battlestar Galactica Deadlock nails this feeling quite well. Especially the Anabasis DLC. It adds mode where you choose a fleet and need to make 10 jumps across cylon territory while covering civilians. And yeah, the fun of emergency viper landings and escort ships sacrificing themselves for a battlestar is there. PS: agree with @imsquishable on Starsector too tho. It was THE fleet combat game before x4 became as good as it is now.

@@ragnos28 look up Sseth's review of Starsector if you're not sold on it - it's great and a lot deeper than it seems (the key from the video still works). For me Kenshi has a lot of similar vibes to X mechanically, but it's as far from cosmosim as it could be. Still an open world sandbox tho =)

@@Livanskoy I can't get past the graphics I've saw on all the Starsector gameplay that I've found on YT. 😐 Where is my capital ships bridge that I can sit on, while coordinating my fleet? And I don't think I can' zoom on the ships in my fleet as they fight... At least the other recommandation I got, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, have a cinematic mode after the battle...but still no battlestar bridge. 🙁

Seeing your shields getting bombarded, I somewhat thought about how cool it would be, if you could actually command the player ship and move up to different stations on the bridge, ordering people to divert powers to shields etc.

You made a perfect video for a bug report. Might worth submitting to the devs as they stated that this part of AI should be improved in 7.0. Honestly, I doubt that your use case will ever be fixed simply because all units get their individual command and they perform "attack" order independently one from another. And as they do "attack" independently, there is no way to plan a formation to avoid clustering. The "Coordinate attack" seems was intended to fix this issue... but imho it is just unusable.

I don't think I will bother anymore, also I don't have the save file prior to the atack run. Besides, everyone is patting themselves on the back for how much they improved the destroyers "AI", who am I to burst the celebration party?🤐 Is my use of them so unheard off? Am I the only one that have destroyers as a wing, in a fleet? 🤨 But is true what you say, give any attack command and all formation go to hell. 😐 Even when I place the destroyers on their own fleet, and order just the leader around to keep a formation, when I get them in range and order a general atack, or even when the bombard role kick in, again all formation goes to hell. There is also the scrip that, for reasons unknown to me, force them to align themselves at the same plain with their target, somehow forgeting that the space is in 3 dimensions. The root of what I've decribed come from the concept of main batteries, and whenever someone on the Egosoft forums sugested to replace them with turrets, to have the destroyers behave like the xenon capitals that dont do the "aligning thing", many players come out to defend the concept "we love the main batteries". 😕 Well, talking about players being the root of their own problems... So, to conclude, everyone is so happy with the destroyers improvements in beta, the devs, the players...yay, I guess we won...😐

Even if they navigate to the target independently, they could still give the ai an independent collision avoidance by considering where allied ships are and maneuvering a little bit to avoid them

Coordinated attack is OK on a station but I wouldn't trust it without keeping an eye on it, you can't use that against a ship or they will just get killed, even with 4 ships they still get in each others way just as they do in this vid

Wait, did they finally manage to get the "anti missile" command for turrets to work as they should/did in x3? That would be kinda nice to be fair! I always felt that turrets were really underwhelming as missile defense... Would be nice to know if pairing them with swarmer missiles to overwhelm the defenses still work as well as it did in previous titles!

Hmm...I did not test the new beta turrets commands (like missiles first, for example), and I don't have the opportunity to do so, because only the VIG make use of torpedoes, and I don't want to install ToA. So, maybe someone with ToA can confirm this? 🤔

Since it seems like the bolts do most of the damage, would you try a 1 Beam/3 Bolt top and bottom setup or would the lack of symetry but out of the question. Or does having the extra beam vs bolt really help with smaller craft?

Indeed, strong beam ratio is required to kill the S variants that the bolt will have difficulties hitting. So, 50% ration hit all the "boxes" for my AA needs.😉

You actually underestimate improvements. 3:17 You can see how core group of Behemoths turned 2 brethren destroyers down in order to create additional protection in front. Similar how swat units move in chain behind shield unit. 😄

The only way destroyers are even a bit competent is to make separate fleets with them, and order just the leaders around, because as subordonates...well, you saw. 😐

That's their limit, is as good as it gonna get. To quote Dalai Lama, "if a problem can be solved, don't worry about it, if a problem can't be solved, there is no point in worrying about it". I don't think the destroyers "AI" will ever be fixed, so we might as well get used to it. Any hope of improvement is nothing more but wishful thinking.

Todays crisis in Green Scaleplate: Me: Yeah, Xenon can get this sector back from TEL TEL: Did send a 15x destroyer fleet with lot of S+M in the system Me: NP i will watch it with live view, 1xI and 4xK and some S+M can win !!11 TEL: Perfect strategic, no clumbing, only lost 3x Phoenix 😎. Did use the maingun....a lot! Me: Where are the Khaak Ravagers, when you need them?? God: Mission failed😢

No, because I hate the fact that the devs will be sitting on their arses in the idea that other people will do their work, for free. Screw that shit... And because I'm the moron that keep sending bug reports and submit save files on the Tech support forum, tho lately I begin to ask myself why I bother...and I can do that only if I play vanilla, but I will soon stop because is clear that I'm wasting my time.

I would say, there was never a time for bombers like Irukanji😂 Better take a Moreya, yes i know your ......But 4x Torpedos is better than 4x Scouts. Maybe its the age of a mix with some Torpedo bomber, like 5x Torp Barracudas and 25x Makis😊

No, not the Baracudas 😮...I still remember when my wing of torpedo Baracudas could not catch up a xenon K and I had to order my Interceptor Makos to kill the engines of the K. 😅 A truly pathetic fighter, because of its speed, or rather lack of it... As for the 4 torp launchers vs 1...the problem is that the ordonance capacity does not increase that much, a Chimera with 1 torp launcher can carry 21 torps, with 5 launchers I think it can carry about 25, not much to be gained imo, plus I hate the concept of helpless bombers (if it is not the Irukandji with 536 m/s and 10k m/s in travel mode). Besides, no Yaki = no Moreya for me... I'm about to all but box the Shark, the beta mess up the landing of ships on it, I've seen even fighters trying to push the carrier away, just like the M that can be seen in the clip. 🙁 Always two steps forward one step back with Egosoft. 😢

@@egoaut I don't care, that xenon K going in to the distance with the wing of Baracudas after it, like a giant duck with babies after it, is forever stuck in my mind. 🤤 If the Baracudas were any slower, they would be standing still...I think is the only fighter that is actualy slower that its race carrier.😵 As for starting over...to give you an idea of how much I hate to start over, in 4.700 hours I've made only 3 starts, one argon and two terran.

I loved the ZYA start the most....it was a brutal challenge ❤the first few days. TER was boring, ARG was without DLCs and the actual TOA nice, but not compare able with the ZYA one.

Looks awesome, Wish it looked more like it was retrofitted after the fact.. like it had a space at some poing after you capture it you upgrade the cockpit at equipment dock. Initially controls / cockpit could be barren with a map that you can order to dock at.. with a view screen maybe sligh tly different from normal map? Good idea?

I like the ideea of having to adapt to "foreign" tech, so personally, I would like for them to remain as "xenon" as posible.🤓 I generally like the esthetics and effects of the new xenon ships, too bad they have subpar stats, especially for shields, so I can't really use them as personal ships.

It was, until the Shark was introduced, with instant travel drive, making it the only real fast intervention carrier, and instant launch of fighters with 80 fighters capacity, if you occupy the landing pads. But, now in beta, with the new xenon ships, that spur some change in xenon ship production, fielding large swarms, made the Raptor's 98 M turrets an atractive feature. Plus, the fire and smoke effect, increase now the torpedo consumption, so more bombers are required, so the number of fighters fielded by the Raptor, give it another needed advantage.

@@ragnos28 I always found having my M bays filled with dragons with torpedoes enough do deal with anything, plus the damage the raptor puts out just loaded with lge plasma. I generally have 2 kinds of kit out for my smaller fighters boson lance is terrible if in sector but the heat mechanics and cool down weren't an issue in OOS so the DPS output was absolutely insane even the S ships would become dangerous against capitals. Blast mortars on my Ms was always nice too I haven't really given the boron ships a big look yet. Waiting for the new update to drop before I start another game where I'll look into them much more. I guess the instant deployment would be a colossal advantage. Ive seen a lot of experimentation with the new Teladi ships and gunboats on the pads giving the thing complete "flak" coverage in all directions without sacrificing high damage turrets

@@geraldford9967 I don't use M ships with my carriers because of their atrocious landing time. Its even worst in the case of the Raptor, with its single M landing pad. For the other carriers I use them as stationary turrets, and that's about it. All I can tolerate is to use a single M ship to colect the bailed crews, the new mechanic introduced in the Beta.
