Looks like some stuff here, like fire flower sonic and even that entire hammer animation at 5:42 are inspired by "Super Mario Bros Z", a Newgrounds series that changed the game for sprite animation. Mecha Sonic in SMBZ was even referenced by the sonic IDW comics

lol.... yeah... sonic adventure 2 is much more difficult than the 1st one... it's a properly scaling difficulty game which eventually becomes skill based, unlike the first one where you can just cheese your way to victory the whole time. Mission Street is the first difficulty spike, it takes what you learned from prison lane and gives a lot more health, gap, and platforming hazards. it's a level that's really meant to be played slow and careful and a lot of new players including a younger version of me didn't realize this. and that's really my best advice for all future tails levels, it's the opposite of sonic gameplay, you don't go hard and fast, you have to take it slow and careful, clear out all enemies everywhere you go, avoid setting off environmental hazards since his levels have a lot of trolls and traps in them (fair bit of warning, it usually comes from the dynamite packs put on stuff), and take your time with the platforming. and a fair warning... each level for Tails gets progressively harder. on the positive side, the knuckles levels are always at the very least extremely easy to survive in since his levels are a lot more open and sandbox style and he can just jump and glide and avoid what few enemies there are and there are usually very few gaps, etc. the way his levels increase in "difficulty" are they get bigger and bigger, making it harder to find the emerald pieces, but they would actually be good to play and chill with on a stream so you can just chat with people and relax to the music and kind of loosely look for the shards and get real time suggestions. the death chamber level in particular believe it or not was really relaxing for me cause i would enjoy running around while playing at night, listening to the smooth jazz, not really worrying about finding the shards. his levels for me were kind of like a relief, a comedown from the increasingly more difficult sonic and tails levels. lastly... very important to stream because the power up system is not one a lot of modern players get. usually what happens is they put you against something you can't really clear and then hide a power up somewhere nearby. Big tip though... that is NOT what happens for knuckles in aquatic mine.... but there is a power up in that level that makes the last level for him way easier. it'll be a good thing to start a stream with that and have people tell you right away how to get the power up

Mission Street would've been painless if he was streaming. Tbh I've never seen people struggle that much with that stage. Yes, it has some unfair hazards. Some of the bombs are straight up impossible to avoid on a first playthrough when you don't know where they're gonna appear. You have to basically memorise the explosion locations. And being able to skip the required powerup by taking the upper route is a badly designed oversight. But other than that, I've never considered Mission Street to be all that much of a difficulty spike. Eternal Engine was the only Tails level that I remember giving me trouble on my first playthrough.

I'll put it this way, compared to every previous level, Mission Street is a step up in difficulty, especially compared to Prison Lane, and it's where a lot of newer players like Dru, me back in the day, and I think also deebeegeek feel challenged, and often start to whing a whole lot. okay that's not actually how i was when i played it the first time but it's the first time i remember feeling challenged by the game when playing it. i mean, if you remember differently, that's fine, and i'm not trying to open a can of worms about people's varying opinions on the difficulty, i'm just trying to be encouraging and tell dru that we get it, and i don't want this to backfire like when i was saying the same to deebeegeek and he just chose to keep being a little bitch about the game and all his fans thought they had to tell me off for trying to tell him to stick with it

Tails doesn't use rings to stay alive, he has a health bar at the bottom of the screen instead. Though collecting rings can refill it a little bit!

Ahhh, truly innovative idea of Sega called *divide Sonic Team to small portions to work on completely different projects and force a small portion that is left to make AAA game in unbelievably short deadlines* for sure is doing wonders. This is only a beginning of *wonderful* things that this strategy has brought on this earth...

This is from one of them: While Sonic Team began development of Sonic Adventure 2, the project scope was dramatically altered due to staff downsizing. "Our team of 120 got pared down to 11, sent to America, and told to go make Sonic Adventure 2" Last sentence is literally quote from Iizuka himself

It actually does kind of make sense that they would mistake Shadow for Sonic. The citizens who survived the Station Square incident saw Sonic transformed into Super Sonic. Shadow looks almost exactly like Super Sonic just with a different colors. For all they know, this is just another transformation of some kind.

Did you stream this? The camera is looking up at the end because it's pointing at a falling hazard. You could've just waited for it to fall. Really surprised to see you have this much trouble with this stage, I don't think I've seen anyone game over at this stage
