Ok, O2 (I'm white) I'll go somewhere else. Black people make up only 4% of the total UK population...so only 4% of the phone market. It just doesn't make sense unless you start to think of virtue signalling - then it does. 'Oh, look at us, look how we not just include black people, but make them the focus of our ad'. It's called mascoting - companies like O2 USING (patronising) black people as mascots.

I see you’ve included the token white girl again amd just today, there a new 02 advert eing shown with all black girls running and one white girl. Advertisement companies have lost touch and are bowing to the snowflakes. You know you can make an advert which just has a group of black girls. They do exist, you know.

Ahh 2009, a simpler time period where 16mb Broadband was classed as an acceptable download speed to the customer and unpopular caps or download limits were a thing. They were really restrictive and even then, better options were available for unlimited. o2 broadband doesn't even exist anymore! A great ad nonetheless.

Love the thematic UI o2 design at 0:09 on the phones interactive menu. It was, of course, used at various other points throughout the ad. Does anyone else wish o2 had their own OS for phones that used that design as it feels futuristic and timeless compared to the bland phones of today. This ad, although modern, (Pumped up Kicks was a great choice) still feels relevant now and miles better then anything ad related, o2 has released for years now. No effort on their ad's anymore or not to the extent that there used to be. You really notice when you see the ad's released in the past 7-9 years or so, for o2 and ad's in general all over the globe. It's sad really as o2 were once at the top for ad design, now, they are mostly soulless like most other companies in advertising today. Skeuomorphism all the way. Great ad o2!
