Gaye Advert was just as good if not better than her contemporaries. Fuck those two assholes that said otherwise!

57:21 i perceive TV Smith as the most irritating person i enjoy exchanging a few words with: I'll NEVER be able to write chords progressions as simple with little hooks just so and it is tolerable, but on top of it he writes lyrics that are too often saying effortlessly what i can't articulate but worse than everything some of the damned lyrics seem to tell about my life or are adressed to me, that is forcing me to resort to cortisone ointment so irritated i am after his gigs. And then there are a few songs that tear me up emotionally... even if i have never gone fishing for out-of-date WW2 mines , that day we caught the big fish ... i get leaks in the nose and eyes*...

johnny rotten's a "great lyricist?" you must jhave sex pistols records i never heard about.... Glen Matlock could play bass , but Gaye , was able to play circles around sid viscous, and really it takes 3 weeks , starting from never having held an instrument , to be able to play the 1st ramones album on bass, not brilliantly but ADEQUATELY. In Bored teenagers and in No time to be 21 Gaye pulls out a transition that really serve to articullate the songs and savevthem from verse chorus prison. Now just tell me which sex pistols and Stranglers lyrics have somthing as weird and crazed innocently angry as ...i dunno... we who wait , bomsite boy ? 5i will walk you home the great british mistake i looked at the sun are incomparable so let's compare to less blindingly brilliant songs of thde adverts) and who wrote something as true to lies about life like quickstep? this song lyrics make me laugh every time... new friends with fate no money and no taste! you gotta work what a drag when this gig is over i don't want to see it again.... and the young 3 rehearsal band arrogannce "you'll soon see what punks can do! up to the prophetic last verse. That is what happens to play in punk rock mediocre to great punk bands...... LIFE RUINED MY ROCK n ROLL sez i! come on , tell me about johnny rotten brilliance as a lyricist. PIL? "you never listened to a word that i said....3 well, if you weren't making a point of sounding uncomprehesible.. ok, let's Read your lyrics: it is a collection of insulting shlock like if it had been done by making a list of "what does ressembles to an embittered entitled (oh a é&st century fascist PC conceptword!) little kid having a tantrum and wishing he could . I can't cope with the pettiness of that honorary Kardasian that is the J.rotten pontifications and cheap shots to whoever he feels threatens his status of punk incarnate. he once said in a tv interview nov 76 .... "after school,you get a stupid job in a factory, you marry at 18 and have a couple children...then when you are barely 30 you realiser all you really want is kill yourself..." that was said without too much theatrics( just the i'm speeding , me! eyes), he sounded fairly sincere..... then, that day, for 2mns..... while TVSMITH is probably unable to be anything else but himself all the time , at least on the crazy job of writing performing songs talking to random audience members without getting impatient with them. he is sticking to the lies "no more heroes and "damn the record industry these foundations of punk rock long swallowed by the subsiding palace of the "aristocracy of punk" It costs plenty to stick to ideals thaty have been ridiculed and even forgotten. This i know what of i talk about.

the joy of believing you don't have to be an idiot to get somewhere , then. Are there any kind of activists of idealism that do not jeer at you cos you read books left today? (i remember the "i m proud of my working class heritage " that truly signified "there has not been a single book in my family's lodgings for 3generations" or how punk was transformed in the cult of ignorance by the 1981 punk's not dead uniformedly clothed and brain-dead. Tim was so much more than the Adverts regardless how brilliant his early work is, the solo material elevates to another plain and show the tremendous song writing ability, the beauty, energy and relevance of the songs. He is one of the great songsmith's this country has ever produced.

Very nice that HEAVY METAL KIDS got a mention !! I had the great firtune of seeing him in NY . Backed by a great punk band THE MÌDNIGHT CREEPS . Who had a a very similar feel to Adverts . Not on puropse but solid simple ric bass ,un sophisticated guitar, solid drums . And TV on top . Close as I'll ever get . SOLID SEND !!! As closec

IT is A SHAME THE DEBUT ALBUM WAS SO BAD, CAST OF THOUSANDS HAD TERRIBLE PRODUCTION, LIVE AT THE ROXY SOUNDED BETTER, I'm shouting again... GG eyes was OK, and their gigs were nothing to write home about, Let's be honest they were not even B-grade punk, they grade C
@podfuk
@podfuk 10 ай бұрын
I agree about the debut sound quality, but IMHO they were not only A-grade punk band, they were one of the few punk bands that sounded original, unlike 90% of others who blindly copyied Sex Pistols I always considered mediocre and boring. John Lydon is only one I fully respect and he proved everybody in PIL he is great musician.
