Thats amazing bro, can you give me any tips for increasing vertical leap on 1 foot? Its so hard unlike jumping off 2 feet
@tommyprogress
@tommyprogress 4 сағат бұрын
Obviously the most important thing is accumulating a ton of reps of actually jumping off one foot. That is the lowest hanging fruit. Some of the more specific plyos include longer sprints, bounding variations, single leg hopping variations, hurdle hops, and low ground contact time depth jumps. Some of these transfer better than others depending on the jumper. Posterior chain strength work becomes a bit more important relative to two foot, particularly with RDLs and hip thrusts. And arguably the most important thing for a one foot jumper is being lean, getting rid of excess body fat is low hanging fruit. But overall, all jumpers, regardless of the strategies they use, need to have a requisite level of strength, rate of force development, proficient ability in stretch shortening cycles, body composition, and coordination. It's just that certain training modalities are more specific to one foot and have more transfer (and don't just jump into specific work ofc, periodization is always necessary).

Few pointers for your approach! 1. Consider where you’re approaching in the court. If you’re hitting from outside, generally you want to approach towards the antenna, not into the court. 2. For your approach timing, the step before your penultimate should a bit longer than the rest, this helps you gauge where the ball is and still allows to you consistently accelerate through the approach. 3. Get used to training hip-shoulder separation as early as possible. TORQVB is a good place to start to understand basic hitting mechanics. The earlier you learn to utilise your whole body in a sequence, the more power you can generate and reduce the risk of injuries. Good luck!

Can i still gain additional vertical if i only make squat with just body weight? Reps will be a lot?
@tommyprogress

At some point you're gonna need access to a weight room to load the squat more just to be able to get a threshold strength stimulus. As a beginner you can get away with anything though really

@tommyprogress
@tommyprogress Ай бұрын
Same thing as younger athletes with more of a priority on your health and tendon load management, but it also depends on how long you've been training for, early childhood athletic experience, and your overall training background. Non negiotables for every healthy athlete regardless of age: be strong as hell, produce force fast, be proficient at stretch shortening cycles, and accumulate a ton of jumping with near-perfect technique and coordination, while periodizing and progressing your training

bro grabbing the rim being 5'8 its already crazy, im 5'8 too, and my goal its to touch the backboard 😅, but we will get there🙏
@tommyprogress
@tommyprogress Ай бұрын
Try touching the very bottom of the net, then a little higher, then the next little loop of the net, until you get backboard, then a little higher on the backboard, then rim, then grabbing rim, then dunking. It could take weeks, months, years, but if you're consistently training and challenging yourself and learning about what works and what doesn't, I am confident you will achieve your goals.
