@gummiwormy5083 Exactly. Even without 2 Hands Are Better Than One, and heck even Dual Wield existing, bows fall off. The good ones late game are just too heavy to even wield in the first place. And the. 2 Hands Are Better Than One is just the final nail in the coffin. You're telling me I can only fit bows that are already outclassed, AND the weapons that outclass them now can get double stats, while bows get nothing? It's a good thing most jobs don't use bows as their highest proficiency. Haha And thank you so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! I never used swordmaster up until more recent playthroughs as I had a hard time processing the ability descriptions because of wording. Now, with more knowledge and help from your strategy videos I truly see what a fun utility the job is. My first time trying this run, the Oracle fight was my biggest roadblock that turned into a slow sluggish victory with similar shield master setup. When I get back to this run properly or just restart it, I’ll definitely have to try it out! Amazing video
@GloriaNeuMusa10x4 ай бұрын
@gummiwormy5083 Buffs and debuffs really help alot. With the proper setup, there's alot of fun stuff you can make work!!! But yeah, Swordmaster is really good with the right build. You can get up to 16 hits in one turn by braving out, if multitask procs every time. It turns about an average of 2.5k damage per hit(at least here) into 40k total per turn. To put that into perspective, the damage cap is 9,999. So the most you can deal in a turn, if only using single hit attacks, is close to 40k. Which is pretty much on par with this. I'll probably do more Solid Stance stuff in the future because I really like it. And with Oracle available, I can also deal even more damage with it.

don't remember (and never wrote in my notes) if poison works on this boss. would be great if it does though. actually, being so outleveled here might just mean the chance of poison sticking is insanely low. Was thinking about how this fight could be done right after getting to wiswald. At that point, you can protect everyone from stonega with earth talisman + academy gown and protect from dread with unshakable will. You can pretty much never die then since the boss only has single target physicals. Can save on phoenix downs by using four white mages and using AoE raise. Now the only question is how many attack items we have to use. Attack item amp and hitting a weakness means we deal 350 x 1.5 x 1.3 = 683. Then 282520/683 = 414. yikes. and in fact, beating the adds at the start would take like 15-16 attack items too, so that's a problem. when I did this though, I used the strat I described above, except I used salvemaker concoct, which has a higher damage potential than what normal attack items give.
@GloriaNeuMusa10x Жыл бұрын
Poison does work on it, but if you want to do the fight as soon as reaching Wiswald, you'll run into the issue of no Counter Savvy to avoid the counter to Black Mage skills. So you'll have to get extremely lucky to both poison and not get KOd by the counter. That being said, I really liked the idea you presented, so I decided to be a mad person and test out my own variation of your idea. Keep in mind that all I did was test it. I didn't actually do the whole fight. It wasn't the most consistent thing ever, but I used one White Mage with 3 Gamblers. My passives were Spearhead, Attack Item Amp, MP Saver, Unshakeable Will, and Bloody Minded. I threw Bomb Fragments at the Forklings with everyone to kill them. It took 13 of them to kill, so I used the Bomb Fragment 3 times and Bold Gambit once with my Gamblers. I managed to get Bold Gambit off and give 3 BP to everyone before Treant could kill us. Which was obviously a gamble, because if it didn't work out perfectly like that there was no chance. But I only need to rely on it at the start, so it was worth it. Now, the fun part is you don't need to worry about Phoenix downs most of the time, even with Gambler. Because I went all in on the luck factor and used Life or Death. As long as you smart about it, one KO isn't the end. The Phoenix Downs are for if you are in a situation where dying would actually lose the fight. With only Treant left, all I had to do was Life or Death, Raise, Work Your Magic(Or Hurts so bad with the Throwing Axe), and Bold Gambit a bunch while throwing Zeus's Wrath, Dark Drops, and Throwing Axes. If I ran out of MP I could use Gambler special to recover it for everyone. Now, admittedly, I dipped in the middle of the fight because it was taking too long. But in theory, it should work. I don't think I'll go back to beat and record it because it won't make for an interesting video and will be WAAAAAY too long even if I manage to beat it like that. But with all 3 weaknesses accounted for in 99 of each item and 1137 damage per hit, it is possible to deal the damage in only attack items. Not accounting for the turns taken to revive, restore BP, restore MP, and buff, AND not accounting for its own healing with casting Stonega on itself, that's a whole 249 turns of throwing items. You just need to make sure that if someone dies to not waste the items with them. Bold Gambit helps make it more realistic to get at least one person to throw at least 4 attack items while still staying in the positive to revive. That being said, in order to get Dark Drops, you need to steal them from Fungoo in the Wiswald overworld. So that's even more time. Or you could use the same main jobs, sub Black Mage, and just wait for poison to connect, then wait out the posion ticks. Anyway, it's always interesting and fun getting your perspectives because it's different from my DPS mindset. I like seeing how other people decide to beat fights.

Thank you. That means alot! I completely agree that Unshakable Will is a game changer. Especially when there is a weight limit, which actually ends up mattering alot at low level, having to deal with all of the status effects Unshakable Will covers without it would be a nightmare. And yeah, White Mage's specialty 2 makes it so any healing spells can be used on all of your allies, which is incredible and sets it apart from the other healers. Both of White Mage's specialties really help keep it relevant the entire game, even at low level where you need to use buffs to get a good restorative power.

Getting that hyper bracer early is a nice boost for running a monk in this chapter. Bare-Handed Brawler boosting the impact of your accessories together with many of the picto demon enemies having resistance to different weapon type (but not unarmed attacks) makes monk really convenient. Typically I would prefer Berserker with Monk subbed, but Monk benefitting more from the one hyper bracer could make monk more desirable (or if you're just playing casually and don't want to grind up a new job yet). I really like when there are a few outlier equipment pieces you only have from one chest before they are sold in shops later on because it can incentivize you to run a specific job to take advantage of that.

Berserker is probably my second favorite physical job, but I do still love Monk alot and I of course want to use a bunch of different fun strats. I agree that I love Hyper Bracers and Monk for this portion of the game as well. And I love how Bare Knuckle Brawler has some pretty great use for a decent portion of the game, partially because of early Hyper Bracers. Oh yeah. My favorite thing is looking at chest or quest rewards to see if I can get anything early to utilize a job in a way you typically wouldn't because of the shop not selling it yet(or at all). I've been making my own google docs listing all of the chests and quests I want to make sure I do to get early access to certain equipment.

You should show the rare monster battles at low level! Since you probably don't want to do a whole new playthrough, you should at least restrict yourself to jobs and equipment you would have at an earlier point in the game. Probably the biggest mismatch between how strong a boss is supposed to be and how early you can do it would be the Treant in the forest near Halcyonia. It should be doable immediately after arriving in Wiswald. Maybe the hardest one is Jormungandr in the Rimedahl cemetery. I did this one right before getting Oracle. There might be a better strat than what I did way back then since the game mechanics are much better understood now. I think the Skullcap and Orc King fights in the Wiswald area are also pretty interesting. They're doable with either all or some of the chapter 2 jobs. There are also some sidequests with interesting mini-bosses. They're a bit less convenient to record since they're only once per file fights though. From what I remember, there is a boss that dispels buffs and debuffs that is also pretty strong that you fight in the dungeon near Rimedahl where you can cut down trees to cross the rivers. There's also the boss in the volcano area that's pretty memorable. Beyond that, I will probably want to revisit low level one day, but this game definitely needs more restrictions to be a real challenge. You didn't abuse Freelancer or Beastmaster's stat inflation passives, but other jobs that I think do something extremely degenerate are Shieldmaster, Oracle, Phantom, and then Hellblade and Bravebearer in the very late game, and probably Bastion too (Sanctuary). I think the next time I play this game I will want to either ban or partly restrict those 8 jobs (even more than last time I did low level, because it was actually during that playthrough that I learned how good Oracle's elemental supplement was with or without shieldmaster helping). One could also consider banning elemental resisting equipment because that is another thing that is extremely degenerate in this game (especially because even the bosses like Edna with a mechanic to lower your elemental resistances can't do anything to you because it only lowers you one stage!) Like, are the Hall of Tribulations fights possible without abusing either Across the Board broken fixed damage abilities (like you did) or Across the Board elemental supplement with equipment to block that element (like I did)? Maybe/probably.
@GloriaNeuMusa10x2 жыл бұрын
I actually am probably going to do another playthrough soon and probably test out different strats. I'll absolutely do all the rare monsters though. It should be fun. I agree that alot of those strats you mentioned make the game alot easier, and I actually kind of want to do some challenges without Shieldmaster to mix things up, but I typically find those alot more fun and satisfying than just using Freelancer or Beastmaster stat buffs. Because at that point, it completely defeats the purpose of low level for me. I think Vanguard is the prefect balance of giving stat increases but not having it be overboard. I constantly try to think about how I'd approach the hall of tribulations fights in a more "normal" way like I do with the main story bosses(excluding Nights Nexus). But yeah, I have also come to the conclusion that they aren't meant to be fought normally. I think considering it's a testing ground for all the absurdly broken skills jobs give you at levels 13-15, I don't mind it that much. After all, basically every job gets cracked skills lv 13-15, so there needs to be something to use those skills on. But yeah, even the one I came up with a strat for that requires a bit more effort was OP. I don't think the fights were made for anything less. Can you do it? Maybe. Will I try some day? Maybe? But it may not be as fun doing them the normal way
