Affair cheating it’s all the same just a play on words. My wife was fucking the neighbor go figure she left our son with her sister and was screwing the neighbor. I was out working my son called me. Anyone coming here for advice after being cheated on. Don’t make the same mistake I have made. Like most men, I was caught off guard. Sure are there signs? Yea but you don’t see them usually until after the fact. Understand this first and foremost… if you choose to stay IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. I hate to be the one to break it to you but the life you once knew is over. You don’t understand trust issues until you’ve been betrayed. I was always the person that said, if it ever happened to me, I would do xy&z and when it happened, I didn’t know what to do. These people that do this to others do not have empathy. And there probably will be a next time and a next time and a next time and another time after that and some one night stands in between that you are completely clueless about and then you’ll be 50 years old. Trying to start your life over and good luck with that. Can you start over at 50? Absolutely but should you? No. Show yourself some respect and separate/get a divorce. In the long run, you will find someone that truly loves you and treats you the way you should’ve been treated from the get-go. Nothing is ever perfect but let me be clear. It is not just a phrase when I say people don’t change. Best of luck to anyone that read all of this. I know it’s a lot… but so is being cheated on.

I am so confused my husbands affair lasted heavy for 6 months. I found the texts. Very nasty and sexual. He had pet names for her etc. but he says they was no flirting etc before she just sent these nasty texts. He says there was no sex but texts say yes He says he had no feelings for her but it has to be something for it to last that long etc. still hurting and he will not give me any answers. Btw. I'm married 33 years. After 22 years into it my wife cheated. Everything you've said she went through. The time feames for each stage went quick for her. A total of 4 months. I didn't respond until stage 3. My wife went AWOL for 9 1/2 hours with no explanation. She had a very crappy attitude towards me the next day. She went AWOL another two times. I got the talk from her. "I'm bored. I'm unhappy. Marriage isn't what I expected". I experienced panic. I confronted her in a controlled manner. I told her that her that I knew who she was seeing and I did. I advised her that he isn't leaving his wife for you. She snapped out of the nonsense. She got checked out by her doctor as a precaution. We both put in the work and everything is good now. However, there was intimacy dysfunction for her. She needed time. 11 years later her guilt and remorse is there. She told me she was not a good person. It shoukd be noted that I never brought her affair up. I refused to allow that to be a conversation in our marriage. I did tell her when a person does something they aren't proud of, learn why it happened, what the pitfalls are and make it a priority not to do that again. She cheered up. My point is, this can happen to anybody. Guys, you'll spot stage 1, confront it. Spare yourself the pain and you'll spare her a tremendous amount of guilt.

What burns me up with cheaters is she’ll do things in the bedroom for her lover without any complaining things that she won’t do for me like oral or anal or even if she does them for me it is usually a huge fuss before or afterwards the other lover is so lucky ☹️

It’s scary to think, in my two marriages (I am still in the second) that, unbeknown to me, there was a third party who was remotely directing, controlling and influencing my marriage. These men were “advising” my wife while I was busting my butt for our home, our family, and our future. Very insightful, and thank you! My wife's third stage was very short, beginning with the realization that she was pregnant by her boss. Clearly this did not go down well with him and she could not pass it off as mine (I had had a vasectomy), so she opted to terminate the pregnancy. I surprised and confronted her at the clinic just before her procedure was to have taken place. She could not have been more vulnerable. That same day we both went to her place of work, collected her paycheck and went back home together. Her coward of a boss had had his attorney draft a letter for her to sign before he handed over the paycheck. Apart from her resignation it also indemnified him and his company from responsibility. I told her to delete the indemnity. Whether she did, I don’t know, but we never looked back. Two weeks later she surreptitiously went back to the clinic to finish what she had started. More than two decades later we are still married, enjoying the family we created together before her affair. A good ending, for us, but it's been a very very very painful journey to get to this point.
