Theresa, I love it when she invites me in the house too.Their house is so impeccable just. Perfect. Dad was reading a book and he had some guests over too , and they were laughing and they made Lydia laugh. I would have liked to feel more but I didn't really go there to make a video so I wasn't prepared.

@doublekhobbyfarm yes! I am in the process of is editing a video with anna telling us that it was lady's day at the farm. When I asked her what that meant she said , everyone came over and quilted, sewing, made Food, took care of babies and communed together

Dear rose. I have original amish mennonite compass star quilt pattern and have made the compass blocks and triangle blocks and the purple quilt with the gray border is not a true compass star. A true compass star has 5 diamonds in the lone star and the points for the corner triangle blocks are much thinner. And a true comapss star wouldn't have a mariners compass peieced border on the end. Also having made the mariners compass before I can say that there is a border peiece between each fan to give it a nice straight edge. And there are 2 v peices then a filler peice at the top unlike the quilt in video. As a 12 year quilter and best of show and first place winner it's great that they combined designs however the points for the corner triangles are too narrow and there's no border peace for the mariners compass peieced border and there should be 1 large v peice then another smaller v peiece then a top filler peice. Those quilts are very beautiful indeed, but I what I think would make them even more beautiful is creating two separate quilts with the designs modified a little to the original designs.

But i do very much love the time and effort the amish and Mennonites put into each of their one of a kind creations. I always get excited when a new quilt video of yours gets posted so I can see all the beautiful quilts.

I grew up in Iowa about very near the Amana Colonies an Amish community. I remember many trips as a child there for their selection of canned jams and jellies! I always admired the wonderful wood craftsmanship and the quilting! As an adult, I visited there any time I travel back to the area! Last summer, I discovered a quaint little quilt shop and fell in love with it! I know it will be a destination for future travels. All of the quilts and quilt too you have shared are so incredibly beautiful!🥰

Wonderful. In my next life I'd like to be Amish, such lovely people and I do like the old ways - learning so many skills that are forgotten. I love the feathered star, but the others are just as beautiful. Exciting to see how your one looks at the end.

Hi Barbara, the price of the completed queen sized quilt is $550. That is unbelievable considering the piecing and quilting are all done by hand, no electricity!

Hello Rose, those quilts are beautiful. I've made many myself so I can understand the time and effort that they put into them. But if she were to sell that quilt in lancaster, it would fetch $500. I personally think $75 is way undervalueing the true value of that quilt given the time and effort it takes to make them. She could get a lot higher of a price and still make money. Beautiful work

I totally agree 👍 i hesitated when she said the price.Because I thought I heard her wrong. I usually suggest retail prices to my Amish.Quilters , but the schwarzintuber family feel their prices are fair and i'm afraid to insult them. I tried once to give sarah more money than she was asking and I think I hurt her feelings!

@rubyhollowadventurer that probably happened because they're not doing it to make a lot of money, they're doing it because they love it. And they want it to be most affordable for everyone, so they're cutting their costs a little lower. They don't really believe in taking a lot of money from others which could be why they did that.

You’re right Rose. You have to understand the teaching of the Old Order Mennonite and Amish. We are taught to not take anymore then we need to cover the cost then what we need to live. Not to store away.

You are right, they are such good people. They do get quiet when they are unsure of your intentions, I do too! I try my best to be respectful and show them in the best way possible. I have developed these friendships very carefully!

I am going to see if Lydia would be able to create a couple more and if you are still interested I would have one created for you too! We had the opportunity to stop at Anna's little Quilt shop last summer. It is beautiful, warm & welcoming. Among other things we also bought Anna's soap as gifts for family who all loved it.

Hello rose, swartzentruber amish are the strictest sect of amish there is. They use all treadles no battery operated machines or has powered ones. They make very beautiful quilts. I have mennonite friends and I make quilts too so I can understand the time that goes into them. Quilts aren't just a bed covering they're literal peieces of art. The name of the blue qyilt is called compass star and thats a pattern that English people can't get due to it being a amish and Mennonite only pattern but I have that pattern.

Thank you so much for your comment and for viewing my channel. My original goal for this channel was to take people through Amish country and meet some of the most wonderful people that reside turns out Anna is a great communicator and has really benefited and served her community By having this quilt shop in addition to all of the other items she has in it. They are all there on a consignment type basis and she provides. The avenue for the english to stop in and make purchases all in one spot I also admire your channel and your access to the amish in your community love love the photos. I often think how wonderful it would be to share some of your pictures!
