I owned an old Ultimate 12 and then I sold it to buy an Ultimate 12FX. Both are great boats and the FX12 model has a great seat system but it's hard to remove the adjustable seat base. My only complaint about the FX12 is that the NWC zippered and insulated front bag that was designed for the Ultimate 12 does not fit the bow space on the FX12 unless you cram it into the well. When Ultimate 12 and Tarpon boats first appeared they were touted for their stability and the ability to stand and cast for redfish with fly rods in the marshes of S. Alabama. Garden and Gun produced a fine article on them and at the time they may have been the real deal for stability but I wouldn't say that about them now, years later. They simply do not shine on stability. NWC's claims to such are hype and as I have aged, at 74, I have lost most of the natural balance and agility that I had back when these boats came out. Now I'm looking around to see if I can find an outrigger system that I can add to my FX12. I do not stand up to fish any longer but I'm tippy and Hobie has one that might work to help me while I'm seated. NWC, for all of the innovations it has designed, has not stayed up with accessories in its apparent rush to design more and flashy boats. I'd give these NWC Ultimate boats a 5/10 when the water is calm and there is not wind. Spend your kayak $$ wisely.

One of the best Perception Outlaw 11.5 reviews. Covered concerns of mine. Good to hear from someone else. Thank you. Just one suggestion. All the reviews of kayaks I have seen with very few concerns didn't occur in wind or current. Wind and mild current are pretty common.

Great walk-through. I think it's worth mentioning that Nucanoe upgraded their wiring plates at some point after you bought yours. They are much more solid, thicker, and hold a better seal on the gasket. They also shouldn't warp as much over time. I just bought my unlimited 2 weeks ago, and it's definitely an improvement!

I am completely new to kayak and bass fishing. What are some things you would recommend to look for, and avoid with your first kayak? I'm a shorter dude at 5'4. I live on a lake and im getting irked with my inflatable kayak. And i have no idea why some kayaks are only a couple hundred bucks vs thousands. I appreciate your review!
@hikewadepaddle
@hikewadepaddle 4 ай бұрын
@shabby7127 Firstly, WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION! There are so many variables that dictate whether a kayak is right for you. Budget, bodies of water you intend to fish, propulsion of the kayak, etc. One of the main things to remember is longer kayaks are faster and easier to paddle, yet smaller kayaks turn more easily. I could write for hours on the topic, and understand when it all feels overwhelming. Price differences normally come from production quality differences, paddle vs pedal, accessories, etc. I really recommend checking out The Bearded Paddler and Headwaters Kayak channels. They are awesome at what they do. All the best!

Great comparison review video. I bought the Tamarack Pro 103 3 yrs ago & made many mods to it. It has been a workhorse allowing me to catch hundreds of fish.
