They say your engine runs the hardest on its way out…

Hows the build going?
@PWRVTEC14 күн бұрын
1st fuel dilution (the process of decreasing the concentration of a solute in a solution) not fuel dilation (the process of expanding, stretching, or enlarging) Now how it happens is fuel is washed past the rings and down the cylinder walls, into the oil sump. Direct Injection fuel pressure is tons higher than port injection. So its natural of the beast. How to help stop it not just Band-Aid with heavy oil weight. Warm the engine up don't just start drive to the garage, mailbox or corner store and then cut off, then right back. Low operating temperatures does not allow complete combustion (cold weather is even more of an issue) Frequent short-trip driving cause the issue and falls in to same as above. If the engine get warm and all fluids are up to temp the fuel vaporizes more and the PVC system can evacuate more. (but that leads to intake valve coking) Full time Air/Oil Evacuation Catch Can system fixes most of this and collects the fuel vapors and it condenses and the Catch Can is drained. Excessive idle time, allows more to push passed the rings and because most Direct Injection engines don't have a full time PCV system it contributes to the issue. Poor maintenance like plugs, coils, plugged leaking injectors etc. anything cause poor combustion or misfires Chevy on the 3.6 LGZ engines use a internal catch can system still not full time evacuation (only on throttle vacuum, or pressure builds up to push check valve) it keeps valves clean (Band-Aid) but dilutes the oil I could go full on geek on topic and there are more that are more versed than I am but I have seen and tested on my own and done oil analysis and now what works and does not. But I use a Tracy Lewis Catch Can system on all Direct Injection engines and even my LS engines I own build etc. I use 5w50 in DI turbo engines and any DI engine I drive hard or is modified, tuned etc because of richer fuel trims.

all this work and money for a motor that wont be able to handle more than 8-10lbs of boost. i guess its really cool to talk about and see but i dont see this as being reliable for long

Wrong, dont listen to this hack. Fuel dilution is only 1 of 100 factors for the correct oil. Thats why your motor blew.
@nascam383 ай бұрын
This is incorrect bro, there has been research done and thousands of other people have switched to 5W50 before me. Not only that but GM realized that 5w20 for the 2016 was not enough and was raised to 0w40 then eventually raised to 15w50. My motor “blew” because of bad piston rings because I was on the 2 step for too long, not with the oil. And after disassembling the motor, the bearings looked brand new and entire motor looked great for 80k miles

I'm building the LFX 3.6 V6 engine for a fwd application (the 3.6 has been in fwd cars for a while) with a 6spd manual transmission. Actually putting it in a cruze, someone has done it before but not like a fully built engine pushing over 350. Machine shop has engine.
@Titanic191275 ай бұрын
I think there is a supercharger or something of that nature now I’ve seen for the LFX.
@gittyupalice963 ай бұрын
the supercharger by itself cost the same as an LS3 V8... Thats the problem with the LFX, you can get about 380hp out of it for less than $500, BUT anywhere north of 400hp is going to cost more than an LS3, rendering it pointless. Its a great engine, just would have to want it just to want it.

Sucks to see man but can’t wait to see your new setup. I’m running LF4 internals currently & it has given me way more peace of mind & room to grow. Are you planning on running the stock LF4 piston? Or a forged copy? Either will be a lot better than the stock LFX piston design for boost.
@nascam385 ай бұрын
Nice! Going forged it’s only a few hundred dollars more so I rather get that. I need all the boost I can get to beat that WR

Those are worn rings, did you get bad blowby, put lf4 rods & pistons in. Drop your compression from like 12:1 to 10:2. Im doung the same thing, but im in aus. Im turbochargeing my 2016 VF holden.

Hopefully its not blown something simple but ur gonna figure it out man. Im a 2018 RS owner have turbos for car but still need a few parts. More importantly the time to build it im good mechanic myself but still learning. O ya great video to. Best of luck bud.

Awesome build man been trying to build twin turbo gen 6 3.6 but haven’t had time. I know its a lot of work i solute u very impressive. How much boost u plan on running and or if ur going to change injectors. Maybe upgrade the fuel system just trying to get some ideas for myself maybe. I plan on using a meth injection kit with 2 injectors using 100% methanol along with HP tuners. Upgrade to the ZL1 fuel pump or maybe retro fit the hellcat pump have to do more research. But anyway awesome build any ideas will be much appreciated. Good luck with ur build.

Would 5w30 be contributing to low oil pressure and poor idling went at operating temp? (108k on my 2012 lfx ) I’m assuming over time the car would just need a higher viscosity due to wear over the years..(partnered with fuel dilation ofc)
