Thanks! When singing Falsetto with a straw, the air seems not able to flow from the lung. Any tips? Thanks!

This exercise is what my ENT advised, so I'm amazingly grateful for the demonstration. But it is also the funniest thing I've ever seen.

I believe I am probably achieving the same things with my students when I have them sing very high pitches in a very light (i.e. breathy) head voice using closed vowels (oo and ee)--and in fact using extreme closure (e.g. oo with the lips pushed very far forward; ee with the mouth basically closed). Would like an opinion as to whether this is indeed doing the same thing?

Ridiculous. Absurd. Vocal folds? Who thinks about this? Not good teachers.

Can't this be done without a straw. Is the purpose of the straw to even out air flow?

I wonder...would just humming (no straw) provide the same benefits?

Thank you so much for teaching this exercise. My voice has been in complete shambles since I got pneumonia a month ago. A three day coughing completely obliterated my vox. These exercises me give me hope to battle hoarseness!

how long does it take for straw exercise therapy to generate sustained improvement in vocal production?

however, some vocal "experts" say that when doing straw exercises there should be no pressure at all on the mouth/throat and vocal tract. Is that correct?

Speaking was painful for me for more than 30 years, not to mention the discomfort that I suffered during speaking. By the way, I am a teacher who uses my voice a lot. I often experienced headache and stiffness around my neck. Then I came across Ingo Titze's video, and gave it a try. My life changed overnight! I started "speaking" correctly, speaking was easier, and headache disappeared. It's 2022 now, and for the last10 months, I have only got headache 3 times, and the rest was just amazing, no pain even after speaking for so many hours. I noticed my voice became a bit hoarse after a few hours, but there was no pain AT ALL.

Can do much damage also. The pressure can harm the throat. Study that with a teacher.

Oh my gosh! This actually does work for increasing resonance in your speaking voice! This will be super helpful for me because I often feel like my placement is tight when I talk.
