I had this problem and the solution was very simple and did not cost me more than $50. It is to remove the steering worm from the car and there is a bolt in it. Just tighten it. The cause of this problem is the gap between the bolt and the gear. That is all.

Did you fix it? What was the issue if you did?
@grimdbd6 ай бұрын
Thanks again for this video. I got mine all setup and sorted out. I ended up programming 3 switches. A left, a right, and both so I can use it for cutting brakes as well as a simple parking brake. Nice!
@grimdbd6 ай бұрын
I'm looking at this solution for use as cutting breaks... to be able to lock up one side at a time to allow for tight turns while rock crawling... anyway, I'd want to use individual switches to control each caliper. Would the code be easy to modify to make thar possible?
@sheffdog366 ай бұрын
Yes, easy change to enable independent control.

My 2016 Genesis had this issue too around 38k miles. I was out of warranty based on time, not miles. Dealer wanted over $5k to replace rack. I contacted Hyundai corprate and they offered no help. The front drive shaft also went bad around 30k miles which was covered. Got rid of it after the sticking steering.

My aunt had a similar problem with her Sonata. It turned out to be some cheap rubber part in the steering rack. Note to Hyundai/Kia- Metal is much harder than rubber. Although the issue was fixed once the part was replaced I told her that the fact that they used rubber for that part instead of metal it's only a matter of time before it happens again. I don't consider those cars safe. I owned an 06 Sonata for a 18 months. Issue after issue after issue with that car. Only got the car because it was cheap and "under warranty". Little did I know that the "100k warranty" only applied to the new owner so the car was already 10k out of warranty when I bought it. I've learned my lesson and will stick to JDM for life

I know im late. But i honestly think that you just needed your steering angle sensor calibrated and reset. Sounds like your steering angle and EPS are fighting each other when they both should be working in conjunction

My 2016 Genesis G80 did the same thing January 2020 and had the steering column, rack and pinion replaced in February 2020 under warranty. 3 years later my steering wheel now makes a scraping noise when turning the wheel. Dealer will not replace because they only guarantee their parts for 1 year if no longer under warranty.

Zakari3030 here on youtube can knock it out in 2-3 months. If you follow the normal build plan it can go really quick. Having experience and a well-stocked shop makes it go by faster. I started this project as a learning exercise and so that takes time for me to do the research, find the right parts and tools and then actually complete the step. Also, lead time on some parts can be up to 6 months due to supply chain issues.

I might steal some porsche bits(not literally but salvage yard or buy online) for doing a controlled exhaust valve set up plus combining it with the typical exhaust dumb style set up. Porsche one works like a choke. Free flowing up to the choke point. Then use the dump set up for switching over to an almost straight pipe set up. Close the dump switches over to a different exhaust routing with a cat and maybe muffler. Choke point for further control. Trying to make it so it's not horrible to pull in or out at night or early morning. And have a full track mode. Plus something in-between. Then a boost mode set up. Should be nice.

When I started my project of re-building a 1978 Renault Alpine 310 , the bare chassis was allowing me to install extra engine bay(with heat sensors/gages) cooling vents and extractor fans on demand(Porsche cooling fan system) ,but my true fear was unwanted heat and noises from the engine bay fire-wall ,I found and studied MORGAN cars construction(extra light+performance) and used specific treated and thin aluminium sheets(+detonating/noise mats)for an incredible result of engine bay heat control,to finally end up with my dream daily and all weather car..Is the BMW Vanos system comparable with the HONDA VTEC..??and do you have the POWER 'button' working (400 HP to 507 HP..??.Anyway amazing work...!!!
@sheffdog363 жыл бұрын
That Alpine build sounds epic, glad to hear you built it to be a an awesome daily driver. How did you treat the aluminum sheets? I'm using damplifier Pro mats. The BMW Vanos system changes cam timing with a helical gear, but VTEC switches between different cam lobes, same effect but different mechanisms. I do have a power button to adjust total power from 400hp - 550hp, but have not set it up. Touching the throttle is a bit abrupt, so I will need to tune the throttle curve in the ECU.
